Get something like what I have. Philips Xtreme Power 9007 bulb. They're halogen and do not have a blue coating over them. That blue coating actually reduces output. Only purpose for it is for the people who want there sht to "look like" blueish HIDs.
Philips Xtreme power is the closest halogen you can get to pure white on the market. Philips Xtreme Visions are better but they do not make a 9007 bulb. You can find them on eBay.

Your best bet is to get some nice halogens without any tinting; I've used Osram Night Breakers in the past, and thought they were quite nice.

If you're wanting best output you want, 4300k-5k. 6k is good also but is a TINY less then 5k and 4300k. I know DDM tuning has a 4500k bulb.
And from what I see at autozone and O'Reilly's is that all the good bulbs like Philips Xtreme and Osram night breakers can only be found online.

35w hids are slightly different then 55w the 55w washes out the color so a 55w 8k can look like 6k.
Also bmw uses 4300k almost exclusively because that is the best output at 35w

Chaos = 35w 6k from hidny.com
mine = 35w 6k from ddmtuning. Just depends on the maker I suppose. |

most def. its amazing how expensive a commercial store will price a peice of equipment that isnt even by far up to par For todays lighting options. Any way i have checked out both sets you guys mentioned OSRAM made by sylvania (didnt know that pretty cool). I also check out the phillips xtreme vision and i think i may be going with them. They seem like a prettty well made bulb..i onlly state this from there website specs. Now i have another question guys i knoe im a but what would be my best bet for a proper but cheap HID setup. I cannot seem to find any where that someone has done step by step retros on a GA. I guess My only other option would be just getting Legit angel eye projectors, any ideas...??? not looking to go overboard small budget..

Pictures of output are best at 25 feet from the wall. Up close like that won't really show much. HIR will only work if your 5th gen has halogen projectors that use 9006 and/or 9005 like Shaun, or if you have a 4th gen. I still don't see why people want that blue look with their headlights. It still doesn't give you the best performance you can get. EDIT: Actually, nevermind. You can still look at the thread if you want to, but I never did the step by step. THREAD JACKED! I just decided to suck it up....doing a proper HID projector retrofit using Acura TSX projectors, TSX-R lenses, Matsu****a/Panasonic ballasts, and Philips D2S (4300K) bulbs.
