The seller had hub rings on them since they were originally on an RX-7 (if I remember correctly.) I removed the plastic ring but the hub diameter on the rims is still just 1/8" too small. The seller didn't lie as the lug spacing is correct, I just can't get the rim on far enough because of the smaller diameter hub. I don't think he had hub size listed on his post (and I honestly didn't think to ask until now anyway so it's my fault too.) The GA has a 2 3/4" diameter hub but the rims are 2 5/8". Basically, this specific set of rims was never built to go on the N-body. Right style, wrong specs. (For you metric folks, the RX-7 has a 67.1 mm hub while the GA is 70.3 mm making my problem 3.2 mm in diameter...)

I've been reading a bit online and it looks like getting them bored out will be feasible especially since it's such a small amount of metal that needs to come off. I just don't know where to take them or how much it will cost. Probably won't have the rims on the car for a while now since money is a little tight and it's already going to cost me another $160 to get the tires swapped from my current set of rims over to the Inox rims.

In case anyone is still curious, I finally got the tires removed and dropped these rims off at the machine shop today. Should be done next week and then I just need to put new rubber on them so I can put them on the GAGT. Hoping to have it all done after I get my tax return to purchase the new rubber.

I might. They aren't in the best of shape from the roads in Germany though. Some curb rash on a couple plus they need a good cleaning. If I do sell them, I doubt I'll get much more than $200-#300 for them with the rubber included. The tires are only about 9 months with plenty of tread left. Probably won't swap these out until Mar/Apr time frame though assuming I get new rubber on the Inox's by then.

Damn, too bad you're in CA. I'd nab those in a heartbeat. They'd look great on the Galant once that gets lowered.

Know the specs on the ASAs?

Not really sure on the specs other than 18" and they fit the GAGT perfectly. I bought them off of TireRack before I had learned anything about offsets and all that stuff so I don't really remember much else about them other than TireRack said they would fit. Pretty sure they are 8.5" width but I'd have to measure to be certain. Plus, you might change your mind when you see some of the curb rash on them. I don't know how easily that stuff can be fixed though. The rims aren't bent, just scraped.

Edit: Just found the invoicefrom Feb 2008 in my records and they are 18x8 rims, 5x115 and it says ET45 (I'm guessing this is the offset?)

Of course, it's all a moot point if these rims don't end up fitting right once the hubs are bored out. I measured today and the Inox's appear to be 9" wide with a 41 mm offset. I've read a lot on the forums here but there doesn't appear to be a consensus on 9" wide rims or what the offsets were for those that claimed 9" wide fits. I might get all this done just to find out they won't fit right in the end and I'll be out all the money I've spent on these rims. Here's hoping they'll fit decently.

41 offset? With a 9" wide that might hit the strut.

Of course, with that offset, you may as well not even use them. They'll look sunk in the wheel wells.

Added: look on the back of the ASA and Inox wheels. Near the size it usually has the offset stamped there. Nab pics of the markings when you can.

I would never use anything above 35mm offset.

Jesus I didn't think they made so many varieties of offset/sizing for the inox's. God I feel like **** now sorry for all the issues

I've done some calculations on how much backspace there is compared to my current rims and it appears as though the Italia's backspace should only be approx 8.975 mm longer than my ASA's. I'm not sure what my current clearance is from the rims to the struts but I think there should be enough space back there.

If my calculations are correct, the Italias will actually stick out approx 16.425 mm further than the JH9's from the wheel well which isn't too bad. Of course, that's only if my calculations are correct. Those calculations nicely account for the 1" (25.4 mm) of extra rim so my math seems to check out.

I'd be more than happy to have one of you rims experts check my work since I only learned how to measure backspace and offset earlier today. (Thanks to the FAQ's in these forums and Google.)

Here's what I calculated:

Don't feel bad. I should have done more homework before buying but the good news is that I think they are a pretty close fit even with the extra inch of rim size thanks to the offset being a little smaller than my current setup. In the end, I've learned a lot about rims so it's not a total loss if they don't fit. I sure hope they do though since I paid $500 and the machine work will cost around $150. I'll test fit them before I bother ordering tires for them.

Until today, I actually thought they were 8" rims and I was surprised when I measured them at 9". I had assumed I'd swap my current tires over when I got the hubs bored out but I'm glad I didn't try to do that and end up looking even dumber. I'd rather have a proportional set of tires on them when/if they do fit right.

Speaking of tire sizes and assuming they fit, what tire size should I look to order? I currently have 225/40 R18 on the ASA's but I'm thinking the Italia's will need 245/35 R18. What would you recommend?

245/35 would work nice on a 9" wheel.

But still, once they're machined, test fit.

not sure if this would help or hinder your case at all... but would spacers help solve the offset issue if they are hitting the strut, or would that push the rim outside the fender to look dumb? I don't know much about the offset/size stuff either, I just know I was in pretty much the same predicament when I bought my rims... they hit the strut but I got a 1" spacer and they sit right flush with the fenders now...

They fit perfectly now and there's still plenty of space between the rim and the strut. Just need to order some tires once my tax return comes through.

Once these are one, the only things left on my "must do" list are SC/T kit and a fresh paint job. My hood is starting to flake up and there are numerous imperfections all around the car.

Hmmmm. Looks good. See if they will test fit a used tire of the correct size on the front and back

By poke do you mean how much they stick out compared to the fender? Mathematically it should only be slightly over 5/8" more than my ASA's and I honestly thought the ASA's looked like they sat too far into the fender in most of my pics:

http://imgur.com/a/Dm3K7#1

I can put a rim back on it tomorrow and take more pictures if needed. I'd like to get the expert opinions before I drop $750-$1000 in tires to go on these. Just tell me what angles you need to see and I'll snap some pics.

Also, if a mod wants to move this thread over to the wheels/rims section then I'll quit cluttering up the For Sale area with my updates/questions. Thanks!

You said the ASAs were 45 offset, so that's why. These are 40 you said, on 9" wide? If definitely test fit with a tire, check for clearance, turn the wheel lock to lock and see what hits, settle the suspension first by driving back and forth a few times, hit the brakes while doing so.

+40 offset on a 9" wide wheel, I can't help but feel like something's gonna rub.
