hehe, no problem. I'm pretty sure I've got all the right parts now and everything I need. Just waiting for the rear pads to get here, and I'll probably install next weekend. I'll put up pics in here and let everyone know how it works and any issues I might run into.

Worked on them today. Modified the calipers for the GXP bolts. Getting closer.

Curious Aaron on why you chose drilled over slotted.

I would think a brake upgrade is always functional.

Considering how wimpy the stock N-body brakes are, it's a welcome upgrade.

Try running dual piston calipers in the front with a 2 inch bigger rotor, makes a big difference.

Because stock GXP rotors are drilled, not slotted. Basically I could have gotten cross drilled or plain. No slotted available that I could find. The Baer track kit I have on the front is cross drilled and slotted, so these are the best match. Probably not completely necessary if you aren't tracking the car, but I might some day.

Little bit of both. They should offer more stopping power than the stockers. They won't make nearly as much difference as the front upgrade. Again, if you aren't tracking the car it's probably over kill, but I might take it to another track day in the future. These will definitely have more resistance to heat fade, being a thicker vented rotor. I've always wanted a larger rear disc to kinda match the front though too, and fill out the wheel better.

i guess aaron is the only one that knows i was talking to him about the rear brakes. i HAVE done the fronts, as posted in here with pics.

aaron thats kinda what i was thinking. your right though after doing the fronts, the rears go from looking small to puny. i'm interested to see just how big of a differnce this is going to make visually. i'm sure your going to but when you do the swap please post pics of the old vs new in same photo.

Metal you used camaro calipers correct? So corvette calipers are still not going to fit with 16" chrome-techs?

I remember you doing the brake upgrade and them fitting but I think you didn't have corvette calipers.

I've personally always wanted to do the rears also because I think it looks funny when you have much bigger brakes in the front then small, stock ones in the rear.

correct

the only differnce between the vette and camaro calipers (and someone correct me if i'm wrong) isnt the size, but a fin that sticks out too much on the vettes caliper. everything else is the same from what i remember.

So the 16 chrome-techs with the brake upgrade and corvette caliper should fit?

no. vette calipers have a fin that sticks out too far, and would hit the wheel.

camaro calipers are the only ones that fit that i know of.

The stock GA rims, all of them I believe, will have problems with the vette calipers but I have read that some of the alero stock rims as well as the gp stockers will clear the vette caliper.
I think the chrometech (with the plastic covered spokes) had some rubbing until the plastic was ground down slightly with the camaro calipers. I know my stock non-plastic covered rims did not rub on camaro calipers at all.

I'm guessing from your posts that its a tight ass fit. Now this makes me interested in getting slotted and camaro calipers since I don't want to have to buy another set of wheels to put on during winter since I'll be putting my 16s back on when winter comes then my new 18s once I get them during summer.

i believe thats correct.

my stock chrometechs did not rub on camaro calipers either, with no grinding. though i did have to bend the heat shield a bit.
