its such a close fit i wouldnt have tried it without this thread. i bet you couldnt fold a piece of paper in half and fit it beween the caliper and wheel without it touching. its very very close.

I just read on the gaowners link that 99-01 chrometechs never rubbed, not sure what or why the change over in 02 but it makes sense most people that have rubbing issues were later model cars.
Also just for curiosity the chrometechs were only the chromed version correct?
My rims did not have any plastic just gunmetal metal.
I have pics up somewhere but here is my stock rim with camaro caliper, rims dirty, pic is 4 years old I dont have stockers any longer.

There were chrometechs and then in '03 they made torqued chrometechs and I think they might have had rubbing issues for some people. I got rid of my torqued chrometechs when I left Germany since they had winter tires on them and I wasn't going to need winter tires in California. I never got my Corvette brakes working right while I had the torqued chrometechs so I couldn't verify whether they rubbed or not. The rubbing issue apparently came from the plastic chrome covers so I'm not even certain that everyone with torqued chrometechs will have this problem. Best bet is to simply upgrade to 18" rims before doing the upgrade so that there's no issues.

Thinking about getting camaro calipers and 12" slotted rotors. Where exactly did you get the camaro calipers metal?

Before.

After.

I took a bunch more pics, and I'm going to do a full "how-to" write up in another thread when I get the time, so that the info for the rear upgrade is in one spot by itself.

There is a little size difference, since he has the pics at different distances from the wheel it throws it off a bit.

Look at the gap from the top of the caliper to the inner barrel of the wheel, it's marginally closer.

Aaron where did you get that Lomio Racing or w.e it says platform? That'd be useful for me since I need something to lift my car up just a little to get the jack underneath it.

i think they are "tomioka"ramps. they sure are helpful. slide across the floor sometimes, but you could tape some non-skid shelf liner on the bottoms maybe.

also, wait till he does the how to on the brakes. there are some pics of the old rotor next to the new one. looks a lot bigger that way

i built some ramps like that out of an old desk i had. made up the difference of height i lost when i lowered the car since my jack would no longer fit under the front of the car.

Four red nuts and one chromie? What is that, a McGard? Or did you lose one and have to make a last minute parts store run?

All jabs aside, it certainly is nice to see a 'results' post in a thread around here. If not for Chaos' absolutely awesome irreverence, I might've quit lurking a year ago...
