Running a catch can is much better than just breathers, you must admit that.

1) NEVER seen a grand am pop a dipstick out the tube. I've boost 9.5psi and never done it. That's because my PCV system is setup properly for boost.

2) Having the PCV in place has nothing to do with blow by. That is completely dependent on your ring seal. Running WOT on an N/A car will increase blow by too, because cylinder pressures are higher. Boost ups them even more and increases blow by even more. PCV or no PCV does not change this.

3) Adding a catch can is a good idea, even on an N/A car. It's an even better idea on a boosted car. You don't have to eliminate the PCV system to install a catch can though.

4) Venting to atmosphere is stupid, even with a catch can, even on a boosted car. It's the simplest and cheapest way to solve a problem, yes.... but not the best way. Yes, when you are under heavy throttle the increased blow by will force itself out the vents. The rest of the time you are putting around without the throttle pegged, there is nothing to suck the fumes out and they sit in your crank case and mix with your oil. If you'd seen some of the crap I've dumped out of my catch can, you would not want this...

Well I got my fuel pump wired up and ready to go. All I need to do now is install the tank back onto the car and run the upgraded harness for it.

Talked to Milzy earlier today. I have a upgraded engine mount, and trans mount waiting for me. He also had one DRTC left that he put a side for me too. He's checking Monday about getting me one of his radiators because the ones he has in stock are all spoken for.

Yeah he's a good guy to deal with. When I call him he is always helpful and willing to make suggestions. He has done a lot of work for me so far and every time I call he always has time to talk with me. I cant wait to get more stuff from him.

He says he has 10 on order but only 2 came in. I guess the guy that builds them for him is really hard to get a hold of at times. He told me that Monday he will have a answer for me.

I decided to rip out my junk lateral link bars today. All the bushings were cracked. I already have brand new GP ones on the way. I didn't order the BMR ones because it would have been over kill and $300+ more. The GP ones I have on the way will be a good enough improvement for now. I already have Speed built sway bars.

Very small update. I just received my MAF extension cable so I can move my MAF once I start installing intercooler piping.

I installed my DRTC today. The pictures show it installed and the difference between the stock chain and the awesome DRTC. I couldn't believe how loose the stock chain was and that it was as small as it is. I will have more updates coming because I have a ton of stuff to install.

Yeah, make sure you've properly clearanced the crank and the front cover before installing that timing set. The crank snout has to be machined to work with that.

Also, I'd seriously consider upgrading that MAF sensor to an LS1 unit.

Agreed on the LS1 MAF. Maybe get a tune going with the stock MAF and see if you max it out. You most likely will. Tuning the LS1 MAF will be a bit more work but opens you up to more power in the long run. Boy do I wish we could do MAP tunes.

I dremeled the crankshaft and sprocket so it would slide flush. Once I had everything torqued I hand tightened the timing cover and checked if and where the chain would rub. Tomorrow I will grind on the timing cover to help with the clearance so it doesn't bind. I also grinded flush two plugs on the block to help with clearance of the chain.

I do have a LS1 MAF but I am going to run a AFC on the stock one first to see if I max it out. What I've been told that using the AFC on my stock MAF will take care of the maxing out the tables. I also changed my injectors to flow matched 60's.

AFC will get you so far and you will lose drive ability because of the smaller resolution the AFC gives the MAF.
