2004 Ga ?

Does anyone have info on the 2004 grand ams, I know they will be changed in 2005, but they just keep showing the 2004 grand prixs. Just wondering if any changes, even if there small, which I'm guessing will come with the 2004s. Looked every where, and yes I searched, . Thanks .

On the local dealer's website, it showed a 2004 GP in stock, so I went to look yesterday. I was going to take pics to post here. I could not find one anywhere on the lot nor in the showroom. Maybe it sold already or some salesman is driving it home. I was bummed. It was the base GT model, silver. I really need to see this car in person to gauge how good or bad it looks.

I haven't heard much about the new GA, though.

Unhappy crud

Can't find anything either.

Maybe no changes will be made to it for 2004 since they usually sell a car a year in advance EX. 2004 GP, it isn't 2004 yet, yet they are selling 2004 GP's already. So they might just chunk the GA in there in mid 2004 as a 2005 and just carry over the 2003 as 2004's but just put a ton of discounts on them to get them out of the way.

You never know, but thats how it works out sometimes.

What's amazing is that the GAGT models 99, 00,01,02, and 03 have been virtually identical. The only changes were to the stereo, side view mirrors and options such as onstar and the new hood/spoiler package. So that's 5 model years with basically no changes, and there have been no firm changes announced to a future model. Other than hearing about how it will share the same platform with the new Malibu.

Than again, the GP has been around since 1997, and is just getting revised for the 04 model. So it went 7 model years without changes. Why is Pontiac so slow with changes? Probably because they concentrated on other new product developments like the Vibe and the Asstek.

Well, I may be looking to replace my 99 GT in about a year, and if there ain't a new GA on the market by then, I'll be looking elsewhere.

It seems like the other american car companies (chrysler, ford) is like that too. The imports do a better job with refreshing their cars looks.

Do not fix what is not broke! The GAs are
not really identical, because they took off
the side molding in 2003, right? I think.
(And they look much better without it.)

You'll be disappointed going to the dealer to look for a 2004 GA, their going to be the same. 2005 model year is the fresh GA, and only then the SE. The current GT will carry over for the first few months at least. Meaning the new GA will be available in SE form only, and you can still buy the current GT.

I've been watching our dealership close for the new Grand Prix, I'm so test driving this new beast. Comp G of course.

I referred to the GT model, which has not changed since 1999. The SE model has changed, yes.

Arbogast has like 50 current models. I wonder if they'll sell once the new one hits the showroom. You can tell their kind of worried. They've got the grouped together where their really visible. I think someone ordered too many and now they can't move them.

I'm so glad you pointed that out! I thought you meant an 03 with the Comp G package! *dripping with sarcasm*

I know what you meant, I'm just saying that Arbogast has like 50 older models, so when the new ones do arrive, their in deep crap cuz unless they discount the old ones, they might not sell.

Question So

If the 2005 GA will come out in only a SE package first, wouldn't that mean that they have something really interesting GT wise that they are fine tuning as we talk about this. Happened with the Vette and some other notibles around.

Maybe. But I think this happened in '98 with the 99 models. Initially the GT wasn't available.

I would be careful about buying the new Grand Prix. I live in Oshawa Ontario where the new GP is build. A lot of my friends work at GM and they have been telling me some of the production problems comming up. Among them:

1. Paint process was spraying a mixture including not only paint, but paint solvent left over from periodic cleaning of paint lines.

2. Design of rain gutters channeling water into trunk and rear compartment. This one was mentioned just this weekend.

Also remember that this is the first model year for the new design. I would give GM a year to sort out any bugs.

You should have been around for the first year of the new Trailblazers, Envoys, and Bravadas! My dad's a supervisor in the Body shop, they actually make and hang the fenders and rear hatches and that kind of stuff. All sorts of weld problems, and those persist to this very day. Sometimes they'll find that some get through missing like 12 weld points on a door or on the frame.

NEW GA

I don't know exactly if this is all true, but on the pontiac website they show a few of the new pontiacs coming out. I believe that they are going to start a new mark on them called the GXP's series. I also was looking at the GA and it was going to be supercharged at 275 HP. Only one problem, well for me at least, it looks as if they will only be coming out in 4 DR.

I seriously doubt there will be a Grand Am GXP on the current platform. it is to close to being retired. We wont see one untill after 2005.
