I was always under the impression that dirt would get under the 'bras' and end up ruining the paint...

Nah, I take the bra off often and clean/wax my entire car. As long as you take car of it than there is not a problem. However I also understand that not everyone likes the way a bra looks on a car though.

Clear Bra's are the way to go. 3M Makes a Spray like Plasti dip but its clear. I'm getting that when i get my front repainted. Ive had the Clear Vinyl bra for years on a previous car of mine. Worked great.
