Also nice pic of me pulling my damn shorts up while the guy from the paper was taking pics of my car. Regardless of the classic cars, my car does stand out from the rest. Thats what my goal is and I'm achieving it atm, just something about it that says look at me, without looking gaudy.

Basically. People expect certain cars to be fast and/or modded. The Grand Am is forever a black sheep in the car community.

The Accord seems to get more attention (generally speaking, not directed at mine) than what I've noticed with Grand Ams. Then again, there seems to be a much larger interest in my generation Accord even though it's just as old as the 5th gen Grand Am. Then again, having a larger aftermarket plays a role as well.

I'm not too fond of the majority of the Accord crowd anyway. The two big sites are active, one being a more "general" forum for maintanance and issues and the other being active by all the stance/ricer losers. I tend to post on the "general" forum, I've spoken my mind on that other forum and it only causes sh!tstorms.

I've always noticed the same thing with my car. Even after I spent a lot of money and had some really unique and serious mods on it. It surprises people, and I actually get some serious props for it from certain people... but it never gets the attention or recognition it deserves. The last couple times I took it to cars&coffee in Clearwater (FL), it had quite a few people looking at it and stopping to give complements, and I did have a couple photographers stop to take pics. However, it NEVER showed up in the event pics on the website or FB page. Stuck up promoters only ever showed the high dollar exotics and muscle cars, even if they were old pieces of **** that hadn't been restored.

Yeah, the turbo ranger guy did get the same thing, some attention and people did double take his engine since it was a turbo but still not googly eye'd like all the classic cars.

Thats why I really like street compliments then ones I get at car shows. People actually take out the time to say hey nice ride out in the town.

I remember when I wrote a letter to Super Street years ago, they were mocking a reader who mailed them that owned a Grand Am. Granted, the kid had taken the ricer path, but their claim of Grand Ams are a joke not matter what, that compelled me to write to them.

I showed pics and info on my own Grand Am and others, mainly Aaron's and Spy's. Guess what their response was? More mockery and basically saying all of us are idiots for modding a completely useless platform. It's the main reason why I refuse to read the majority of big name magazines, they all have that sort of mindset about the car community, being there's cars you modify and enjoy and others you do not and stay away from.

Super Street is run by a bunch of ricer faggots anyway.

Not my 'Vette, but I helped a little on the paint resto. It looked candy apple red in the shade, but in the light... Man it glows neon. One of the most beautiful colors i've ever seen.

Finally got the brembos on the G8. 2 guys, 3 hours, and a plethora of profanity.

I imagine there's going to be rear brakes to compliment this, right?

Yeah, that's why I dropped my subscription to them after a few years. Nothing but the same ghey r!cer crap over and over... unintelligible and immature editorial writing in all their articles and nothing technical or informational. It was basically just a bunch of car pics with a roll call of the parts the owners bought with nothing about how those parts worked, if they were any good or improved the performance at all, and almost universally they had no dyno sheets or time slips. Most of them didn't even race their cars. Nothing but show queens and hard parkers.

definitely... eventually. only 2 options currently, neither are perfect. either you run camaro ss rear rotors and you lose the e-brake, or you get hsv rear rotors at 250 per, and you'd have to shave a bit of the brake pads.

they feel pretty much factory, i'm running hawk ceramic pads. they are just a little more touchy in normal driving. from 70-50 they are better than stock were, but from 50-0 is where you eyeballs fly forward.
g8's on the forum with these are running carbo-tech track pads and they claim they are out-braking z06's, but they have all 4 corners done.

it was a fun mod. really appreciate the help from stewartfn. David's got a Vette and i've got serious racecar parts. Aaron, you moved away just when it was starting to get interesting.

I'd LOVE a big brake upgrade on the Accord, but the StopTech kits for these cars are huge, I'd need to run 18"s to clear them. Being a DD, that's a big no-no, I need winter wheels.

If I ever do turn the Accord into my toy (doubtful, but hey who knows) I'd do it. But my goal would be to five speed swap first, or even the six speed gearbox from 1st gen TSXs (the Euro Accord to elsewhere in the world)

I wouldn't even go nuts with mods:

TSX K24 intake manifold
Header
2.25" catback exhaust (probably run the Megan or Apexi setup)
Manual swap
Eibach pro kit springs on Tokico blue struts
Tuned
StopTech four pot front calipers on slotted rotors running Hawk street/track compound pads
New wheels: either Enkei RPF1s or Advan RG-Ds in 18x8 on Toyo R1R 235/40 tires

I'd then happily flog the car at local auto cross meets and try to take it to Wakins Glen and Lime Rock for track days. Wouldn't even care how good I do, just want the thrill shredding apexes and beating my own lap times.

Front brakes do 80% of the work anyway. I wouldn't worry about upgrading the rears too much. If anything, get some braided lines and some sport pads on the rear, and that should be plenty.

Yeah. I get a lot of folks that looks at mine and say the same thing, especially when I showed it the few times that I did. Seems like kids really dug it more...

Sad it sounds so pedo-ish...
