I changed mine earlier this year. Pretty easy. The new resistor is longer than the factory one but is is correct.

Ya. I've seen a lot of his posts and he is a little harsh. It's cool though. To each their own. At least one persons opinion isn't the standard for everybody. I'm just waiting to see what he says about my interior pics. Ha-ha!

The gauges don't look bad. I would have redone the color for the odometer and "Grand Am", they look out of place with everything else blue. I do like the fact that you changed everything else to blue lights.
But for the love of Odin, leave your GPS on the windscreen. Nothing more unsafe than looking that far down when trying to drive and see where to go. I hate cheap, crappy wheels. American Racing Casinos scream, cheap, gaudy and ugly.

As far as the wheels I bought them about 8 years ago for 1000 bucks. I sure liked them at the time and they did change the look of my car from the stockers. I would like new ones but $. Ha-ha. I have always thought they looked to small for my car even though they are 18s. I can't figure that out. |

What did you use for changing to black? I don't care much for the glossiness of it. To each their own though. I just feel like it would give off a bad glare sometimes. And you blue is just the overlay right? Or did you switch to blue LEDs also?

I suppose I could have gone with a flat black. No glare from the vinyl pieces though. I did keep all of the stock black pieces unpainted to brake up the gloss a little. It is the dupicolor fabric and vinyl paint. Works pretty nice. I put blue LEDs in and the overlays are clear.

I have the black Alero window, door lock and fog light switches. Black mirror knob. Black HVAC knobs and defrost and A/C buttons from a Buick as well. I acquired some of those pieces from TruGreenGAGT (Jim). Thanks buddy!

I've gotten some pieces from Jim also. I decided to keep my window buttons though and reprinted them. I'm doing basically the same thing but with a flat black. I still have to do my dash and then all the vinyl will be done. Have some plastic pieces I need to paint still too but since winter is coming I probably won't be able to until spring. Did you do your carpet and headliner also?

I think that interior really is too bright of one color. Turn that down a bit and it'll be decent. There's a reason why dark rooms for photo processing use red lights, lots of useful light and it won't hurt your eyes as much compared to blue when going back to the natural color of sunlight. That, I think, is the main reason why GM chooses amber/red for interior gauges.
I also notice that there are coldspots/unevenness, you could remedy that with some foil tape for a more even distribution of light. Do you have any more pictures during the day? Chris that's called obstruction of view, the same reason you can get pulled over for hanging things from your rear view mirror. A better placement will be on the dash. And I agree about the gaudy wheels. |
