I'm going back and forth. Now considering the Mini H1 6.0, that link I posted looks pretty damn good for the 6.0s. But you all said go with the D2S for some reason.

D2S is a OEM standard bulb so you can get better quality bulbs, where as H1 is a rebased HID bulb and can have problems with not being mounted or made right

^ what he said.. And also the d2s 3.0 is supposed to be better than the H1 6.0... It can be hard to give a fair comparison since they use different bulbs. It can also be hard to tell from pictures which looks best. In pictures they may be very appealing but there are tons of variables that make the comparison "unfair". Only way I would ever be able to say I like one over the other is if I had them both and used both to figure which best suited my needs. I understand that cN be unrealistic since this is not an inexpensive process so sometimes you just gotta go with your gut. Both the H1 and D2S are easy to mount with the threaded shaft. Any other projector will just depend on your skill level and lots of patients.

Yea mine are sitting in the trunk right now... Got my Dremel last night so I'll be doing some work before my vacation is up and I have to go back to work on Monday... YUCK!!!
Also hoping Bryle chimes in... On the 2.0 sticking issue any recommendations other than sanding the plunger and stretching the string? What grit should I use? And also maybe use some graphite to lube it? |

Modding my 1.2 Gen projectors
Post 155 and 148 have some output shots of his. Comparing that to the 3.0 output makes me wanna get some 3.0's the color band would be wonderful to look at when I pull into the drive way! That's what I figured just aggravated at the sticking issue! Also I know it's not necessary but the canbus harness Jim used would make wiring much easier/cleaner than the other. I might even switch mine to it... Just nice to have direct battery power not that I know if it makes any difference. Last edited by 03GT SilverGun; 12-25-2013 at 10:13 PM. |

Yeah I like the output of the D2S's looking at Jims thread but then again Bryle scares me away from the problems that people had with them. The plunger only controls the high beams correct? I rarely use my high beams anyway.
Also Jims bulbs almost look 6kish, you can see some blue in there even though he got 4300k, I know it probably the camera though.

Yes I know my cutoffs are crooked... Another reason I'm going to be redoing it.

Second picture looks like they're aimed a little high.
Doesn't the projector only go in a certain way. As in, it has 4 screws to fasten it down and then a locking/threaded nut/shaft on the back side correct? So how is it possible to get the projector crooked?

They were aimed a little high. But the driveway makes it look worse than it was since it slopes down quite a bit. Also the aftermarket projector housing I used didn't have anywhere for the threaded shaft to mount to so I had to come up with my own. I used the original holes from the crappy projector that was in there and then drilled 2 more for the bottom. It should be much easier to mount them in the stock housing since I can use the threaded shaft. As far as I know that's all that is necessary to mount these.

There where better pictures posted on the 3.0s but I really would rather see road pics then wall pics. Seems like 95% of output pics are on the ceiling or walls
![]() Still leaning more towards the 2.0s. Like I said though, its really a win win, if I wait till the 1st and see 3.0 road shots and dislike them I can get 2.0s at a discounted price. If I like them I can get the 3.0s since they'll be out.

I would assume they do, why would they stop making them just because a new gen came out?
