But yeah did some measurements and comparison to Bryle who used the Mini gatling but he used the MH1, and to cartman over at GAOC who made the "how to" retrofit with the D2S kit who used the GTI-R shrouds and in that thread people would curious to see how the E55-R fit. So I did some imaginary measurements and compared the GTI-R shroud and E55-R shroud and the only thing that is substantially different is the width. I made the conclusion the Iris will not fit without much sanding because it is 1/4" to tall for our headlights.

Not to mention I don't like the GTI-R that much because if you read through the thread and look at the pictures you can see the black part of the physical projector sticks out a little bit from the shroud, dunno it that was mean't to be or not but I can it looks kinda weird. But thinking about it again would look that bad with a red shroud and black "ring" where the projector protrudes out.

Here's that thread if you're interested in the read:

I'd rather buy one. It's not like I'm choosing the E55-R out of random thought that it would fit or not, I like the look of it.

I plan on doing a fiberglass shroud for mine hopefully I can start figuring out exactly what materials I need and where to get them from soon.

Tanner if you're not interested in the 66240 CBI, there is always the regular Osram 66240 bulbs. I think they are really good for the money, because they prevent from color-shifting and that makes them stay brighter for a little longer.

The reason the E55-R didn't work with my H1 is because it's too wide up front, so much that they hit the lenses of the headlight. I know the D2S is shorter (at least the 2.0 version, not sure about this new one), but I don't know if it's short enough to prevent this from happening. No way to be sure until you order everything, to be honest. I would even order them as value shrouds, honestly they probably won't even have any noticeable scratches.

Better quality, definitely. Brighter? Ehh. These were made to maintain the same output as a regular 4300 kelvin bulb, at the same time as having a higher kelvin rating. Benefit is having the "whiter" light without losing any lumens.

While I am no expert the kelvin rating is basically the light spectrum, 3000k is on the yellow end of the visible light spectrum, with the (to us) pure white at 4300k, and 5000k tint of blue and 6000k and up blue to ultra violet with our eyes the 4300k will give us the brightest light possible. the light output from all will be equal, just not visible to our eyes.

There are really alot of difference spectrums on HID sites that say different for every kelvin scale. Like I found one that claimed 6k was pure white .

The one I go buy is 5k is the "brightest white" and 4300k is "warm white."

Here's a better comparison.

Osram Xenarc 66240 CBI's on the left side and Philips 4300k on the right.

Philips 4300k:

Your eyes need to be checked .

5k is brightest white and 4300k is warm white. The 1% of blue tint eliminates the warmish white look.

Also the blue color band might be throwing it off as bluer.
