I miss my G8 GT 6.0L small block V8 engine. 8.8 US quarts needed. I would bring my car into the local GM dealer. They have a drive through pit...& I can watch them & chat with them as they do the oil change. I would bring in 9x 1L bottles of Castrol Edge 0W-30 Euro spec & a NAPA Gold oil filter. $32.50 Cdn + taxes for labour. GM Mobil 1 5W-30 oil changes are about $150 Cdn + taxes for C6 gen Corvettes without the dry sump system. (The dry sump system is like 10L / 10.6 US quarts.) (Keep in mind that a regular oil change here is like $50 Cdn. Last time the GA went in it was $57.50 Cdn + taxes...when I didn't bring my own supplies.)

Wait. You are supposed to change your oil? I thought you just topped it off as it leaked out and that was good!

I'm chiming in late but I guess I'm surprised this is even a topic.
if you trust people and want cheap oil in your car, have someone else do it if you don't trust people or want to use good oil then do it yourself. I change my oil like most people on here. hell changing my wife's ford escapes oil tomorrow. however with that being said IF I didn't have a garage in the winter, I would probably just take both cars in. today when I woke up it was -7 here with a wind chill of freeze your balls off. I hate the cold and highly doubt I'd go out in weather even close to that and change it myself. however tomorrow, i'll start a fire in the garage ( I have a wood burning stove I'm not actually going to set my garage on fire) get it up to around 50 or 60 and then change the oil out.

![]() ![]() Nice When I lived in ND if I had a garage, not heated unfortunately, I changed it even if it was -5F though if I could get by it stayed unchanged until the temps at least hit 0F But the times I had no garage it stayed unchanged, hell un driven until the temp was high teens at least. Back then I had 7 beaters all licensed so I never worried about a car to drive.

I drive a V6 H.O.

I change my own oil, oversized filter and extra oil. It is about half the price the shops up here charge for Mobil1. When I am under there I look for leaks, pull on the tie rods etc.... just looking for something that may need attention.
When I put my back out I had the oil and filter already but stopped by the wal-mart tire and lube since I knew a guy in there. They changed it for $7.95 since I brought my own stuff.
