Well they came in today thankfully. I bought some "B-stock" ones which they claim have little blemishes and such and they're not that bad for being B-stock. If you're not a perfectionist who isn't going to paint the shroud its a nice price drop. They have little swirls in them and a couple other weird blemishes but it doesn't bother me since I'll be stripping off the chrome anyway.
Photos really don't get how big shrouds actually are. I bought the Orbital shroud(right) and the Bullet shroud(left). These are my only other options that have enough depth and do not have integrated accent lighting which I didn't want. I'm partial to the Bullet shrouds. Once my headlights get here Wednesday or Thursday it'll be making progress. ![]() ![]() ![]()

We'll get it figured out hopefully.Trying to think of a way to trim the face of the shroud so the lens can fit on without the shroud looking funny. But these are honestly the only other shrouds that would cover the gap at the top that the GTi-R shrouds left.

Lights came in today, we'll see progress finally.
![]() Might paint the border of the housing that the reflector does not cover flat black along with the headlight bowl that will be painted flat black as well. Noticed this when I first switched from the ebay projectors to the black housings, annoyed me that the part the reflector covered was still chrome so it made it look weird when the rest of the housing was black. ![]()

Was a pain in the ASS to get the lens seperated. First headlight I put in the oven at 250F for 10min and soften'd up and glue but still cooled too fast for me to chip the glue away. Put that in 4 more different times along the way. Second lens put in the oven at 225F for 1 hour and even then it wouldn't come off in one go, put it back in at 230F for 30min and finally got it off.
Starting to get cold feet. It's really going to be a PITA to get the shroud to fit and hopefully it'll look good even though I have to sand off the front of it. It's being primed and painted red so I'm not worried about marks. Headlight in: ![]() Lens off: ![]() Extra peeled off glue from one light(And some awesome dog hair): ![]()

So I haven't done jack sht since I took the lens off because I refuse to have to sand down part of the face of the shroud to get the lens to fit, I just do not like that will look good at all.
Experimenting with my stock headlights. Fk you all for wanting me to do it on one set and one set only, I'm glad I have another set to experiment with things so I know it will work. Cut off more on the back to the point where the threaded shaft is pretty much useless now in terms of tightening up the projector. The GTi-R shroud still doesn't necessarily cover up the "guts" of the projector and light still reflects out, truth be told the bowl is still chrome and not black but still needs more depth. Bullet shrouds should fit alot better not without having to shave much off the face. Might buy the Iris shroud seeing as I only need like 1/4" of extra depth to cover the areas I need to cover. If that continues on then I'll have 4 sets of shrouds ![]() ![]() ![]()

So I'm ending up having to cut way more off then just needed for the shaft. The threaded shaft will be useless for its purpose now but its common practice that people use JB quik to adjust rotation/angle then let that sit and use JB weld to secure it in place so I will be going that route. In a way since I'm going this route I could of upgraded projectors to the FX-Rs or something else since I'm not even using the threaded shaft but I'm perfectly happy with my 3.0s.
I also will be using the Bullet shrouds see as I like how they make the projector look "recessed" into the shroud and for the fact that the GTi-Rs still do no cover the gap that needs to be covered. I don't see how anyone would be able to use the GTi-R shroud with the D2S 3.0s. On another note I got the color of HIDs I really wanted, pure white. I don't know why it says "Cool blue" on the packaging. No hint of blue at all, looks OEM pure white. Looks much more white in person then in pictures. How much that needed to be cut off: ![]() ![]() Light gap with the GTi-R shroud. Ever so little light escapes: ![]() Head on: ![]()
