There is no "correct way" to cut springs, regardless if they are linear or progressive. Besides the point that it's hard to measure and cut off the exact amount, and they won't sit in the pockets in the spring perches correctly anymore, most people also cut them with something like a die grinder, which makes heat and affects the temper of the spring. Another big point is that if you change the length of the spring that way you are still changing the effective spring rate as installed from what it was before, and you have no idea what that rate is.
Given the ease with which springs can be obtained from suspension vendors, eliminating many of the variables and 'guess work,' I admit there isn't much sense to cut coils in most situations -- new metal with known specs is a more attractive option than trying to 'fill in the blanks' after hacking a spring. I would, however, fall short of saying such practice is always unnecessary or incorrect. Engineer Herb Adams has advocated the practice (and with an oxyfuel torch, no less!) in print. As Mr. Adams was a key figure behind the Fire Am project and the RPO WS6 package, his opinion should carry some weight.

New brake pads came in, need to take some time to put those in. But decided to clean things up a bit under the hood and determine what I want want to do under hood. Have better idea of what I want to do now.

Yeah I really hope after they settle they don't rub because your springs are just installed and are VERY close to the fender in the front.

It wouldn't matter if your wheels where sunk in a little since it would just flex against the splash guard but since yours are flush the tire would eat into the metal.

Yeah i know what you mean, but trust me, even tho you cant really see it, there is just about enough gap. Ive gone through some bumps a bit fast, and it slightly rubs into the splash guard, not the fender. I looked close and there is no marks of rubbing on both, tires, or fenders. So im good, for now. We'll see once they settle, but for now, i love how they flush

I've never heard of that guy. Everything I've ever read in print though says it's dangerous and not a good idea.

I agree it's a good way to make the hot rod hacker's most wanted list, although I can't say I've never done it. I hoped you were familiar with the fellow; it would have been fun to theorize why a chassis engineer with such resources would go on record advocating such.

The more I see your car the more I want to get spacers to bring my wheels out. Or sell my wheels and get what you have...

They look quite identical , you would have to lower the car ,get some 245/40 tires and that should do it. Or spend $13** for all four rims/tires new

I see , oh well you still need some work done other than getting spacers or buying new wheels to get "that" look... be patient, tho. If you really want it, you'll get it..
