so had the subs mounted in the box and ready to put in the trunk, go to test the LED strips.... yeah stoopid me shoulda tested them first before putting them in the box... well one of them had 3 burnt out LED... fock I grabbed the wrong strip, had three sitting and thought I had thrown the bad one away. so took the one sub out, took out the strip and replaced it. waiting for silicone to dry before I put the one sub back in place. in the mean time ran the power/ground cables. drilled a 5/8" whole in my firewall and ran the power wire all the way to the back. and of course my battery wouldnt fit in the spare tire spot like I wanted it to, I want to leave the bracket so the tire cover still screws down tight. if I removed it battery would be a tight fit height wise, but I don't want to remove the bracket, so insted battery will be mounted behind the driver tail light. since I need to re-make the false floor anyways from a double amp setup to a single amp, on the driver false floor piece I'll just add a box so when in place it'll cover the battery. but as of now the front battery is hooked to rear battery, and the rear battery is hooked to amp.

also heres a pic showing the rear view of box with subs installed, I went ahead and drilled a hole under each sub to run the wires straight out for a cleaner look, original box had them going up threw the top in a hole in the center of both, then leaving wire seen and just hanging

and then a pic of how the wires were before

That install is looking really nice. How thick is that plexi piece? It's such a huge piece, must have cost a fortune.

the plexi piece is 3/4" thick. and this whole setup was bought from a buddy in New York who bought CobraJeff's old car, he was kind enough to break the box down and ship all the parts as a flat package, then I went and remade the box and any other piece I needed using the original pieces as templates

Good ole LukeL, he made some awesome stuff. I miss my GAGT the most because of his switch panel. Looking good, minus the green

yup its funny to think only 3 pieces are still orignal from what I received, the front filler piece wrapped in grey vinyl, the plexi piece, and the board the amp is mounted to.

everything else I remade and started fresh, woulda kept the rear filler piece too but it was broken.

also heres more green for ya

Not fused.
And my old 4gauge was in the hole wit two red wires for 5 years never had a problem. Also how does the jacket rub when the wire doesn't move?

You really should fuse the battery to battery line. It's usually recommended.

Maybe. I know ppl with 4 runs of 1/0 wire front to back not fused and no issues..

Also I went ahead and took some hush mat pulling the foil off leaving just the butyl and used that to make a bushing and hold the wire in place where it goes threw firewall. I started small pushing hard to make sure it went into the hole around wire

Not fusing a line like that is a mistake. What if you are in an accident? That's an added fire risk. I didn't think that you'd leave the fuse off considering your attention to detail elsewhere. Those who don't use fuses, well I'm not going to use that bridge cliche.

Also, yes it may not move, but it will vibrate in there. You really would be well advised to make the hole bigger and add a grommet.

Just giving some advise...it's your car and your install.

I know a Tahoe around here with 4 runs of 4/0 and they're all fused. He also has 3 alternators, and is pushing 20,000 watts. But that's another story

But yea, you basically have the same setup I have, and these subs will rattle absolutely anything and everything.

so got pretty much everything test fit... gotta pull it back out to make a mount to hold the box in place so it doesnt shift while driving. and add some holes and stuff to screw the panels to box so they dont bounce around either. then get the LED strips wires up, and make the false floor panels for the trunk

say what you guys want about me not fusing but I've seen plenty of melted fuse cases and no popped fuses, thats a fire hazard to me...
way I see it you have this massive 1/0 wire being then dropped down to the fuses tiny wire, then back up to the 1/0 wire... bottle neck effect to me is bad and extra resistance. and what happens when you have resistance? you have heat which melts plastic.... also fuse is an added two connections that could come loose and cause arcing, again more heat and bad.
