Probably no pictures from me this weekend. But I am done with school for the semester after 11pm tonight, so I should be able to finish detailing my car much more quickly than when I was busy with school. I may be working two jobs though. I've worked maintenance at a factory for four years now, but I also may be working evenings and weekends at a body shop, prepping the cars for the customers (basically car washer).

I have a lot of products I use, but as far as my "go to" products, here is the short list.

Polish: M105, Megs 80, and Megs 82
Wax: Klasse All in one, and Klasse Sealant in the winter
Clay: Megs, or Mothers

I'm yet to do anything yet this year though like I said. what your seeing is Klasse sealant, which isn't the best for reflections. However, it is amazing in the durability category.

I need to get a good sealant on mine and then a good wax on top of the sealant should really make it pop I would think

actually the opposite is true. sealants are not really for making paint pop. there more for sealing (or protecting) paint for a long period of time. a lot of guys (me included) put down sealant, then use a carnauba wax on top of the sealant to make the paint pop. the carnauba wax will fade after a few weeks, while the sealant will hold strong.

a good read at the top of this link

My car's Twin!!! looks so good!

that's super impressive for not being washed OR waxed. very klassey

everything he said about sealant is true. lasts a long time and keeps the paint in good shape, but doesn't do much for shine. and i had a liquid mothers wax that only lasted 1 friggin wash

that expensive pinnacle sealant i got still shines up like a deep nuba wax when i wash the car. so far i still like it. it's love bug season down here... if you don't know what that means, brace yourself

after a typical daily commute, you'd get this much.

by the end of the week, your view looks like this

....So we wash our cars a lot more frequently right now. because if you dont....

lovebugs are sliding off easier than i remember before with this new sealant on the car.

everybody have a great weekend. reflect on!

thanks Mac. the car was in the shadow of the barn, and the lighting was just right. maybe i'll go back after I get it all cleaned up in about the same lighting and take some pics.

those bugs are ridiculous. in 05 we took a vacation down to Destin FL (its in the pan handle) around this time of year. driving thru Alabama was horrible for bugs. like really awful. like washer fluid is useless bad. that's all I remember about the whole state and we drove right through the middle of it. when I drove to tampa in 08 it was late july, and the bugs through GA, and FL were not bad, well not compaired to 05. good luck with the bugs man, and may I suggest. . . .

http://www.autogeek.net/poorboys-bug-squash.html

just read the first sentence

glad to know that the pinnicle is working for you. klasse all in one is supposed to be both a sealant and still have a nice gloss. overall it does both very good, but neither great. I use the all in one in the summer, and usually put carnauba over it

No. I sheet off the water and hand dry. Then I use the leaf blower to get the water out of the hood scoops, crevices, seals etc. It's a pain in the ass to wash your car then immediately go driving down the road and have water fly out and create water spots onto your car. It's an electric filtered leaf blower. I'm not flinging dirt at it, clean air. Really helps with the lug nuts and wheels too.

There is always a critic so I should assume someone will take your side and wants to prove me wrong but whatever, that's the detailing world.

People can make the argument that you're blowing dirt at your car yet I have not seen any signs of damage AT ALL from the 6+months of using it. If people want to make the argument dirt will be in the air and hit your paint then it is no different then hand drying and dirt getting in between the towel and paint.
