We're bound to have some critic here so I thought I'd get the argument out of the way.

Decided to spend the day claying because I needed to spend quality time claying the car. Wasn't nearly as much contaminants in the paint as there was when I first clayed a long time ago.

looks good, and i'm prolly the only guy here that likes the shiney tires. but they really make the chrometecks pop!
i used to get the gas powered blower, but then i got a shop vac that could suck and blow, so i'd blow filtered air at the lug nuts and crevices. now i just use the water blade squeegee and hit the waterspots around the crevices the next day with QD

I am also planning on doing some detailing tomorrow. So I should have some good reflection pictures.
This is what my car looked like when I went out to it today. Car was filthy to begin with but then the damn birds just added to it. Just went and sprayed it off at the car wash quick since I knew I'd be doing a detail tomorrow. ![]() Last edited by gudge; 05-18-2014 at 08:51 PM. |

We have. But a chamois is just as safe as a MF. And will soak up water better then drying with a MF towel... if used right you can make the car dry in one swipe and not leave streaks. As long as the paint is freshly washed. You can use a chamois and not hurt the paint. Try it. You wont regret it. If anything a mf towel will do just has much harm if the paint is dirty... a chamois just soaks up water better. And doesnt leave streaks.

I'm going to have back problems when I get older from them sht. The Medium cut and Heavy cut pads really made everything faster.
Buffed with Megs UC, polished with Megs UP, put 2 layers of AMMO Skin Defense coat on paint, windows, and wheels,, and topped it off with AMMO Creme, going to to another coat of Creme tomorrow. Topped tires off with a subtle shine. Did a much more thorough job this time, Got the stains out of my black b pillar overlays now they look brand new. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It even reflect off the asphalt ![]() ![]()

And here are some before and after I got, I didn't do complete pictures because I want to concentrate on my work, I can never do a picture by picture. These are the stains that where in my paint and in curves of my paint, that was my first objective to get out. Found out claying gets it off but it would take forever to do it with the clay.
Don't worry, its completely gone, thats just the sky cracking through the clouds that you see in the reflection. ![]() ![]() Another, you can see it near the corner of the fender. ![]() ![]()

Tanner, you should send the 1st or 3rd picture to Larry. Looks amazing. It ended up raining here today so I just got the interior and engine bay done. I'll do the exterior a different day. I may wait until Thursday when my m105 and Klasse sealant get delivered.
Edit: Just checked the shipping tracker and it got revised to an estimated delivery day of Wednesday ![]() Last edited by gudge; 05-19-2014 at 10:55 PM. |

I used the Yellow and pink with UC on speed 5 and 6. Yellow=heavy cut and pink=medium cut. then just used UP with the white polish pad.

uh oh, "some critic" is back.
let me start off by saying, anyone can use anything on their own car. I don't care what you do, or use, its not my car. with that being said I personally would never use unfiltered air on any paint on my car. maybe, and its a big maybe, I would use it to dry out the engine bay, but that's about it. reason being, you can say "its clean air" all you want, that doesn't make it true. you will absolutely suck up small particles and blow them at 200 mph at your paint. now you could say small particles wont do any harm. personally I would consider sand a small particle, and we all know what happens when you sand blast metal. the paint goes bye bye real fast. I'm not saying that using unfiltered air is the equivalent to sand blasting, just making a point that when your blasting paint at just a high speed, you want to be sure that the air is as clean as you can make it. or at least I would. with all that being said there are tricks to getting water out of hard to reach spots, like under the spoiler, in the side view mirror, and under the door handles. there are 2 tricks I've used to get water out of these places. 1. the easy lazy way is to drive your car around the block. I don't recommend doing this if your going to do any type of paint correction, or wax. but a fast drive around the block will get the water out of everywhere, and when you come back, just dry it off the car like you normally would. 2. the harder way is still pretty easy spoiler: pop the trunk for a couple of mins and let the water flow down at a 90 degree angle. this is much faster then waiting for it all to flow off the back. door handles: open the door and close it harder then you normally would. not slam, but a firm close. water will come out, and you can repeat if you need too. also this is a way to get the water out of the mirrors as well. mirrors: take the corner of the towel your using to dry the car and stick it in between the glass and the plastic on the bottom. get the towel back as far as you car. take the towel out, ring it out and repeat. okay enough about drying. I see team red had an awesome showing this weekend. great job guys, really good pics. I don't know about you guys, but when I park next to anther red g/a the difference is night and day. and when I see that all of the hard work pays off. not to mention in the resale value as well. great work everyone ![]()

, I use a leaf blower now because never seems to fail me when I use the corner of the towel to get the water out then I'll go driving and the ever so slightest bit of water will still be back in the mirror and then water will proceed to fly over the side of the car. Not to mention you really need air on the rubber seal/gromet, w.e you want to call it that is around the base of the mirror that goes against the door.Same with the trunk, I do that immediately once I'm done with rinsing the car, but kinda like what I said above, still water gets "soaked" up in the feet of the spoiler and always will run off down the back of the trunk. Door handles specifically never had a problem I don't have water that runs from them.
