it'd be a good winter driver.
or derby car or a kindap-mobile it's got potential to be on the 11o'clock news ![]() i'd use it for a beater, no doubt about it...aside my truck would run circles around it in this weather. so i guess i wouldn't. but let the boy dream guys ![]() |

Project car? Ehhh...It's not a bad car, I just wouldn't throw money at it trying to make it something it's not. Perfectly fine car to cruise in, I wouldn't try to do much else with it.

It's rough on the outside. Honestly, I'd take the time to make it look good again if it's solid mechanically.

Gonna use it as a dd and fix up the outside if I get it. Don't know if I will, my mom isn't too keen on getting an ancient car. But I plan on calling later this week.

For the money, I'd think you could do better. $1500 around here will get you a first-gen Focus, mid-90's j-body, late 90's Taurus, all sorts of mid-90's Buicks and Oldsmobiles, and a ridiculous number of Dodge/Chrysler minivans (if you're into that kind of thing).

see that 2500$ car thread.. seriously though you can find decent newer than that cars for a couple grand.
as far as making that 80's car a project car. what do you have planned. everything is so antiquated. you would be better off finding an 80's malibu/caprice. |

By the looks of it, you would need tires right off the bat. They look very old, lord knows the condition of the brakes/hoses/belts. Looks like a bad decision to me, save you money.

Ben, for not too much more you could get yourself a P71 that will be easy to work on, have parts falling out of the parts stores, will let you have some fun in an empty parking lot, and will have bench seats... for.... you know.... things...
This one is $2200 with 145k miles. Has a little rust, but not a bad deal. ![]()

And I have some CL listings of the rear divider (for a cage car) and the kevlar trunk organizer, several light bars...
I'm not saying you SHOULD pretend it's still an active P71 to pull over (and surprise buttsecks) girls, but you COULD... |

1991 Pontiac Bonneville LE 191k miles 3.8L engine, starts, runs, and drives good. Rear power windows don't roll down, but thats an easy fix. Garage kept its whole life. (yes since 1991) he is selling it because he got a new job which requires a truck. Now the truck is his dd. "good first car and good school or work car" But I will extend my search to newer cars.

My '04 P71 had 230k plus miles started and ran like a new car. Would spin tires going 35mph if I floored it. And got like 15-17 mpg beating it like a red headed step child.

I know. Stupid WINTER won't go away
![]() Those ol P71s get beat, and beat, and beat, and keep coming back for more... I mainly like the sound that they make from a dead stop. And they have lots of room in them, like Sam said, for "activities" |
