Teah young gun, can YOU read????
![]() Milzy would know the part number im sure, shoot him an email and ask. Fisdads car is pretty much done... (Good friend of mine) the car was actually in my garage for a few months. He bought the car as a 5 speed project, interior is torn apart, axles werent in, etc. but the motor and trans were already in place, for the swap on this car, we need a custom shift bracket made for everything to work correctly. Its all the right stuff, but for some reason the shift bracket wont work... The transmission is built, able to hold 800 ft lbs tq, so the previous seller claims (a very well known alero member was the previous owner) and also has LSD in it, and whatever else.

Yeah the car is getting close. It should be done no later than mid June. The hydrolic line needs to be fabricated to fit up, the cable mount for the shifter cables needs to be fabricated to work properly with the getrag tranny and the Alero cables, the dash, console and seat need to be reinstalled, the fluids need changed, the brakes need to be swapped to the new F-Body setup, the exhaust needs to be fabricated and installed from the cat back, the battery and tires will probably need replacement and then it should just be minor things to tweak and registration. It sounds like a lot, but most of it is straight forward. What axles did you use and how did you get the cables to work? Also, which shifter are you using? I have the B&M short throw shifter, with stock Alero shifter cables and clutch pedal assembly, a custom made part alero/part fiero axle on the drivers side and a built getrag 282 with a torson LSD that's been fully cryohardned to withstand up to 800 foot pounds of torque. |

Great work HeC! Looks good man I just have a couple questions. Oh and I'm driving an '01 LD9/F23 right now. Obviously you know that the n-body is available with the F23 since you used two of the three GA mounts + the subframe. I just walked out to my car and looked at that front mount, trying to figure out why you fabbed it. Of course one of it's 3 bolts is directly on the bell housing, so that's why
. I also looked at the shift cable bracket. Why do you need to fab one? Is this also due to the v6 bell housing? Hard to see down there... Good call with the poly mounts. Prothane offers a more complete mount set than what Energy does; front & rear are same bushing anyway, and Prothane has lower left mount in poly form, and a right upper that sure looks like it will fit the V6 too!A whole other can-o-worms to consider is gearing. If acceleration is what you want, then you may want to look at the LNF(Cobalt SS turbo motor) powered Chevy HHR SS F23 w/ 4.41 FDR. The trans you are using has a 3.94 FDR and a 0.69 5th. Aren't you running 225/40/18's on Eagle 077's? I'm also running 225/40/18 and I'm revving 2500 rpm @ 71 mph. 2000 rpm only gets me a whopping 57 mph. Base Cobalt with F23 and 2.2 Eco is equipped with a 3.63 FDR. IMO, this is more desirable for the V6. Here is what I have calculated: GIVEN- 2500 / 0.69 / 3.94 = 919.59 axle rpm = 71 mph......919.59 / 71 = 12.95 axle rpm per 1 mph Based on this, further calculations are as follows; 2500 / 0.69 / 3.63 = 998.12 = 77 mph 2000 / 0.69 / 3.94 = 735.67 = 56.81 mph 2000 / 0.69 / 3.63 = 798.50 = 61.66 mph 2288 / 0.69 / 3.94 = 841.75 = 65 mph 2108 / 0.69 / 3.63 = 841.75 = 65 mph When I had my '07 G6 with F40, I made a gearing change that was much better(IMO) than my original. The '07+ F40 gearbox has a very close ratio 3-6 gearset. The -'06 F40 gearbox has a more normally spaced out gearset. When I replaced the clutch in my 6, I installed a brand new F40 (one of the ebay surplus trans) that had the '06 gears. The following is copy/pasted from wikipedia's F40 page: Gear Ratios MT2 (2006) MU9 (2007+) 1st 3.77 3.92 2nd 2.04 2.04 3rd 1.32 1.37 4th .95 1.05 5th .76 .85 6th .62 .71 Final Drive 3.545 3.762 The 07 box will make the big, bad 3900 rev at 2100rpm at 65 mph. The 06 box brings that to 2000rpm at 69 mph, with 225/50/18's on the G6. A lot of excess info I know, just wanted to shed some light on that topic for ya. I'm thinking a V6 swap may be in order for my '01, but not with a 3.94 diff. ![]() |

The reason I shared the G6 gearing info is that I know there's an MPG difference. Very worth messing with FDR. Those Fiero guys have this **** figured out don't they? Luckily we don't have to fab up trans shift levers. ![]() |
