Is It A GT or GT1 ????

What is the easiest way to tell if my 1999 GAGT is GT or GT1?
thanx
I got the car used from Thomas Auto Mall in Coon Rapids, MN
and the engine was so fuked up that it was cheaper to put in a used engine than it was to fix everything that went wrong with it.
it needed a new cam and all new lifters the antifreeze was in the oil 1,000ppm new intake manifold gasket among other things.
now I'm just curious on which trim level it has.

Hey, GTs can get pretty damn loaded too remember! Chrome wheels, leather, and sunroofs are all available on GTs...so whats the difference?

GT1s have more stuff standard, but their EXCLUSIVE equipment is a full power seat (rather than merely height adjust) and steering wheel controls. Neither are even offered on a GT.

Hope that helps...

Jason is right, the steering wheel stereo controls, and the full power seat (driver's side only). Only ways I know to tell.

It was just a luxury/appearance package. No performance benefits what so ever.

Yup those two things are the ONLY difference between a loaded GT and a GT1.

Actually my 2002 GT has full power seat (only the driverside) with cloth seats and no steering wheel controls. Also the chrometech rims. It is listed as being a GT. The GT1's in my area must have leather and steering wheel controls for it to be considered GT1

Then your car is a freak, because out of the 20+ '02 GTs I ordered, none had power seats, nor were they even offered...

I think you meant FULL power seats. All GT's have vertical power adjust.

Yeah, mine is full power seat. You can adjust it in all directions with that black rectangle. No cloth seats, no radio controls, no GT1

There is no "GT1" package in Canada IIRC.

Yeah, thats what I meant...in dealer lingo, we don't consider GTs to have power seats, even though they sorta do

My 02 GAGT1 sedan came with everything, powerseats and stearing wheel controls but it did not come with crome wheels. I just have the painted silver ones. I thought that was kinda wierd?

I think 2002 was the only year where you had a choice on shiny or not shiny rims for GT or GT1. Isn't that right?

I recently just bought a 2003 GAGT sedan. When I was shopping there were literaly 6 MSRP prices on the same GT vehicle, all within $200-500 of each other (just look at GMBUYPOWER). Long story short, I am pretty sure you can make any GT a GT1. I saw several models that had full pwr seats, leather, steering wheel audio controls and they were NOT GT1's. I believe it is just the way the car is packaged.

Question

Isn't there actually a VIN # difference? Like the third character is different or something? Or did I hallucinate that...
