It's finally time!

Well after months of waiting and looking, the time has FINALLY come for me to get my GT. There's a 99 at a dealer near me that has my name on it.

The first thing I'm doing to it is new wheels and tires. Right now I'm looking at a set of the 98 Cobra wheels (because they kick ass and only ONE other person has 'em on a GT that I know of) with 245/40-17 Yokohama AVS ES100s. I guess I'm just looking for a good, yes/no on whether they'll fit without rubbing or not. Also, do I need to buy any adapters or new lug nuts, or will the stock nuts work? I don't plan on lowering my car because next summer I'm going to try to get an SC/T body kit and with the pot-holes and speed bumps around here I don't think that would make for a very good situation. Also, very soon I'm going to be getting some GrafxWerks stuff, and I was just wondering which color matches the color of that car the closest. Thanks duders.

P.S. Yeah, I know this probably could have been in 3 different forums (PVN, All Show, and this one) but I figured what the hell.

I think that there is a person running around with 245's, although itll be REAL close. The rims you are referring to are Eagle 077 Im assuming, and several other people have those. They are available at partsforyourcar.com.

Not the 077, the Ford Racing 98 SVT Cobra rims, seen on here on CDW00GT's GT

I know he has 245s on his, but I just wanted some other opinions.

It's not Wilkyman, it's CDW00GT. Talk to him to see what they are and mimic his exact setup.

Until CDW00GT verifies it will fit, I have notions that it will not.

Wherever I May Roam = Pennsylvania huh?

Nice looking car. As far as the rims go, if I remember correctly, they went on with 0 modification required and they are 245's in the rear... I would take AMRAAM's suggestion and ask CDW though.

LMAO, yeah I just noticed that. Anyways, CDW00GT's set up was 245s up front with 275s out back. He said they'd bolt right on, but if he doesn't reply in here I'll shoot him a PM.

275s in the rear...no shot in hell.

275s on an RX7 in the rear are as big as you can go!!

That's what he said. :shugs: He said they only rubbed under hard cornering. Not that I would ever try that though, I can barely afford 4 245s, let alone 2 245s and 2 275s.

Hmmm...well I've been in Chris's car when he had those rims on it, and I didn't notice any rubbing at all...everything seemed fine to me, the ride wasn't abnormal at all.

Yep, I checked mine and they are 245/45/17 So they work, at least I have no problems whatsoever...

what is the offset and width of ur wheels Nikki??...cause if this is true then a 245/40/18 would fit as well with the right offset..... ur tire must be VERY close to the rear spring perch b/c it is pretty close even with the stock setup... let us know, b/c if this does work then i will definatly be gettin 245's for my 18's!... thanks!

Hi people. They are 1998 Mustang Cobra wheels.

245/45/17's Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Positions in the FRONT

275/40/17's in the REAR

I would rub the rear quarters while cornering hard. With 245's in the rear I don't see it rubbing at all. I hope this helps clear things up. With these wheels and tires it made my daily driving much more fun.

All I know is that they are 17 x 7...and they fit perfect on my car. I do not know the offset as I bought them off a friend.

I dunno...I'm not an expert on wheels. All I know is they are perfectly fine, I've had them put on by Goodyear and Belle Tire and they never said anything was wrong with them. Actually, the guy I bought them from bought them from Goodyear, and why would they order them wrong?? Ya know??

I dunno why anyone would want to upsize their wheel and then put a big ass tire on there! I thought the whole point of upsizing was to accentuate a larger looking wheel. WTF would you want a bigger tire for? If the answer is driving....then why not just stay with 16's and a better stock size tire.

*shrugs*

bigger tire = more safety..... harder to dent a rim with more sidewall ... also looks like less wheel gap
