Misfire

Alright here is my problem Latly i have been Misfiring. But it is only When i am winding out Second and at about 4500. It Drive Perfect when i am Driving Normaly. The TPS is Bran New aswell as the Plugs (Correct gap) And I just replaced the Fuel Filter. Now I got the Code Red and it was a Multipal Misfire All Cylinders. So any thoughts on what this could be Keeping in Mind it only happends Flat Out in Second at around 4500 and on?

Edit: For Some Reason It also Started to Hang On TO Gears Longer. Say if it was to give it about 75% untill about 4 Grand Then once it hit for grand i would back iff to 25% So it would shift. It will hang at for for about 3 seconds

Check your plug wires.

try without TPS and see if it goes back to normal. Those things are more a problem than they are useful IMO

How does she idle black?

Your positve that all your wires(firing order) are correct?

Check them coil towers and see if there is any corrosion underneath the wires. Usually #5 and #2 get the worst of it.

also double check the wire harness and connector to that tps if it was just replaced.

40k miles on the wires but they could have been messed up(insulation nicked, sliced, or pulled apart) when you pulled them off to change the plugs. Or they may not totally clipped onto the plug or coil. Its just a simple thing to check before thinking its somthing more indepth. Just like if an electrical component messes up you check the fuse first.

Yeah and no. Usually when you start to load the engine is when they go sour.

Dude I think your coils are takin a crap.
How is the other gears at 5k rpms?

Also might want to check that site that tells you what pcm update your due for. There was one for timing retarding too much upon accelerating but was more for bogging off the line.

I've had problems like this 3 times now. The first was a clogged injector, the second a bad injector.

The third started last week when I put on the taylor wires. They fit like butt and I'd switch back to stock but I broke one in the process.. doh.. MSD ones on the way.

The problem is.. at the same time.. it feels just like a bad injector, and I've been through a huuuuuuuuge monsoon that soaked my filter pretty good and stalled the car ( ) . Hopefully I didn't do any damage and a good set of wires (that fit) will fix me up.

Also none of my cylinders are reading misfires when it happens, which is the annoying part, so it makes troubleshooting a PITA.

Just wanted to toss you that little bit of info about the injector.. Best way to clean them is the pressurized fuel injector cleaner from a mechanic , BMOBYLE can elaborate more on how that works, because I forget.

Little misfires like that won't throw a code, that's a problem. I ahve to drive around with the autotap and watch for misfires... without hitting anything at the same time. PITA to trace, i'm tellin ya!! In my case, though, definitely starting with the wires since everything was peachy before that.

I bet you have either a coil crapping out or a wire or two.... Whaddaya know, I've got an (almost) brand new set of coil packs here... Good way to check the coils is to swap them with a known good set, and see if the problem disappears. Soooo, wanna come to gimli? Or we could meet up on Sunday in Wpg or sumthin.

off at 5, 60 min drive home to coils, so i'll be there at 6. It's up to you - how soon do you want them? I have the 3 stockers from my '03, which you can use to test, (but I don't wanna sell 'em, just in case) and I have 3 stockers from the '01 (105,000km on 'em) - if you want them, they're yours for $10ea. I also have 3 other used coils I picked up from a wrecker a long time ago. If you want 'em, take 'em.

couple other questions: are you still running Bosch plugs? Stock (original) wires? You're probably due for a wire change, too. they're kinda like the alternator-battery relationship: If you toast a wire and leave it, the coil will overheat (and die) quickly.

The Plugs are Bran New maby 2000KM on them. The wires have 40,000KM on them.
