sounds like a loose e-brake component...check the cable and also the lever itself.

when you say "when the car kinda rolls" if you mean when you let up on the gas then you probably have a bad alternator or battery. Have autozone check them for free.

I'm not so sure... he said his "brake" light was also coming on. If it's not an e-brake component like gordo said, I am thinking it is an electrical problem.

Havok, does your SVS light come on when this happens?

hub/bearing assembly <<how would i go by fixin this? is it expensive..cause my warranty just expired...dr.kyle..no my svs light doesnt come on...the lights that come on are all of the suspension lights(abs, trac off, brake light,)its weird cause it doesnt come on all the time just some times when like im pullin out of my driveway or pullin in...my driveway is kinda angled so i pull in sideways so it wont hit the bottom..it happens when the car kinda goes side to side(could it be that i need struts or somethin??.)...then all these lights come on......
thanks for your help guys!!!

well, if it is the hub, try not to go to your dealer. They will hose you. Here, I an get a huv assembly for approx 150.00 cdn and its a quick job, if you are mechanically inclined, and have some tools. try to tackle it yourself.

get the part aftermarket.

my ABS light comes on if I turn sharply to the left.. stop and go at an intersection and cut the wheel fast and turn left.. turning right it has never done it... I wonder if it also can be tied to my wheel bearing being shot.. maybe the sensor is shot too.

Anyone else have a problem with a hypersensitive ETS system. unless I'm driving highway I can't even drive my car hardly without the Low trac light coming on everytime I turn. (not that its too big of a deal being I rarely EVER drive with ETS on) Please tell me this is all due to my hub/bearing assembly.. Would be nice to think I could buy a $200 part and it fix all these problems at once..

Trying to not stray off topic.. but if they are all related symptoms then no worries..

Please help....
I've been having a situation where my ABS/Trac off indicators come on, but I havent had any braking problems. I had my car in the shop for body work and explained the problem to the mech. and he came back to me and said the hub/wheel ass'y had to be replaced, and said it was a wiring problem, not the bearings themselves. He est. $700. Do I have to replace it or can the wiring be fixed?

the wiring he's probably refering to is the wheel speed sensor.. if the sensor breaks or get moisture in it gives false reading causing the ETS light to come on.. Unfortunately they are sealed from the factory inside the wheel hub assembly... I won't say there is NO way to do it.. but it would require so much work and probably would be impossible to get the individual parts... Its likely you will need to replace the wheel hub... More fine engineering by our friends at GM..

ABS/Trac Off -Hub Assembly problems

My ABS and Trac Off light would do the same... All the time took it to the dealer and they played it off as a dirty sensor, and shooed me out the door. Finally after 3 times of cleaning the sensor I had 99,996 miles on my car, and 4 miles of extended warrnaty left... they (the dealer) told me they would clean the sensors again. I almost flipped out, and made them replace the hub assembly. almost 500 dollars of parts and labor. I payed 50 bucks. The assembly houses the sensor and you have to buy the whole thing if you want to fix the problem.

12,000 miles later I had the lights on again... but this time the whole abs system shut off. this was during the winter so i really noticed the problem. Also my Red BRAKE light also started coming on a little while after driving with the other lights on. Turns out that both the wheel hub assembly's were malfunctioning. I was quoted 420 dollars for each side to have it fixed at the dealer... plus labor. So anyways... me and my dad fixed my car with aftermarket Hub Assembly's. The way the wires are routed from under the hood to the wheels is stupid and that is where the problem lies...The wires come loose inside the conector sometimes... They might have fixed it somehow with the 2002+ Ga's my sisters 2004 GA SE has no Anti- lock brakes prolly cuz their design sucks.

One of my hub assembly's went bad again... only took 2 months but replaced it today again... the aftermarket part cost around $100 and is under warranty for 1 year.

Have You Checked Your Brake Fluid Level The Master Cyl Has A Float In It If The Fluid Gets Low It Will Cause The Light To Come On And Would Explain Why It Does It While Doing Certain Manuvers.

Same probs here AGAIN! Only this time I'm not getting the "woo woo" sounds of the bearings, only the trac off and ABS lights. In addition to the Low Trac light at every stop sign, light, etc. It also hesitates, like a miss, but I'm assuming it's the engine cutting power thinking we actually ARE losing traction! From what I've read, I'm assuming it's a wheel sensor. I've replaced both hub assemblys TWICE in the last year and half. The first two junk ones came from Autozone and I had a buddy of mine put them on. They both ended up being defective within 3K miles. I took it to the stealership the next two visits because I had boneheadedly forgot I bought an extended warranty when they went bad before! Autozone gave me refund when I returned the parts. Now hopefully the Pontiac dealer will honor the warranty on the junk GM parts they put on, and not try and tell me it's something totally different and make me bend over! We'll see ...

I think all of our cars have a schedule "crap on us" timer in them! My car is doing the exact same thing, but I got other lights on too, . But the lsat few ones to come on were my ABS, Trac Off, and E-Brake light. Where can I purchase the wheel speed sensors so I can get that fixed? Also, I had the codes run and it came up with a code that had something to do with my rear driver side hub assembly sensor... and a rear 02 sensor... any of you guys got a quick link of where to get those parts? thanks.

Hey,

Im pretty sure ive got the same problem on my 99 Olds Alero....

I get an ABS and TRAC OFF light that turns on and satys on till it turn the car off.... and soemtimes its still there when i restart it...

but im pretty sure i know what the problem is... if you can fit under your car, check out the wiring assembly behind the wheel in question.... As far as my stuation, the wiring has come unclipped formt he metal piece that it's sposed to be attached to. Because i didn't find this until recently, the wiring was rubbing against some moving part of the axle, causing it to burn through the wire casing and fray the wires.... And because the mounting point for the wire is inside the bearing hub.... i think you have to replace the whole deal... :-\

PPS: does anybody know if it will create problems to drive with these lights on? like... if i leave it for a while, is it going to mess anything up, or just turn off the traction control and abs?

ABS/Trac Off Lights

I also had that problem, and after a couple of weeks of troubleshooting, I found that a wire at the plug, to the sensor, was broken inside the plug but had not fallen out. Very tricky. Anyway, it all work fine now. I just went to a scrap yard and grabbed a couple. The dealer wanted $106.CD for one. I told them I already own the car.
