Question White Car...Little brown spots?

Does anyone with a white car get the tiny little brown spots on their car? It only really sticks to the plastic areas of the car. I think it may be tree sap, but I really dont know. My buddys car has the same thing. I can get it off if I wax/claybar, but it is driving me crazy? Any ideas??

They are surface stains. More than likely road grime, but sometimes they are rust stains too. Get rid of them with the clay bar and then wax the area to keep them from coming back as quickly.

Is your car fairly new (ie 2-3 weeks old)? Your problem sounds like rail dust; lots of new vehicles, but especially white ones, suffer from this. However using the clay bar and then applying a wax afterward is the proper correction to this condition. And since your car should no longer be traveling by train you shouldnt have to deal with it again

Yea somone had mentioned that, but since I took delivery of the car about 20 miles from Lansing, I am doubting they used a train....but who the hell knows? I paid $600 destination for a 20 mile ride. (before everyone starts....i know destination is a set fee)

Anyway, the spots go away after I clarbar, but they come back soon after.

I get the same damn spots, and I've had them since the first time I washed it. I have an 02 White GAGT1 coupe and those little spots never wash away. And no, I dont park under a tree or anything. They sure are annoying!

the only way to get them off is to claybar your car, I was told that they come from the brake dust off your car

Hi I have a white grand am GT that is tar from the road. I noticed it when I did the clay and got rid of all the spot from the car. Then noticed this brown spots so I asked one of my buddy that details lexus at the dealships told me that when customer took the cars out for a test drives they would get this brown spots that is caused by tar on the road. He told me do the clay and apply two or three coats of wax and it will be easy to clean up. I do Ziano now and when I see those spots I just wash my car with their soap and the spots go away quickly. Hope this helps.

As long as you can get it off, there is no alarm to worry whatsoever. You can pretty much take that stuff off with just about anything, I can sometimes get it off with detailer from Meguires. There is no way to prevented, just a keep up with it every once in awhile and it won't get that bad

I have had every color car under the rainbow, and I really think that white is one of the easiest to keep clean with a good coat of wax. It does not show scratches, water spots or dust as easily as other colors. The only complaint is them damn spots!

Im sorry but all of you are wrong. The small orange coloured stains are called fallout or acid rain. This will always stain light coloured cars and if not washed right away it will stain your paint. The way i removed them is I used compound. The clay bars are for experienced people and if you dont know how to use it i wouldnt even try. The worst time to see fallout is in the winter because of all the snow. Also if your car is brand new you have a warranty against this that no one knows about. Just look inside of your drivers manual and in there it will explain that you have up to 20,000km or one up to one year to take it back to the dealer. At the dealer they will acid dip the paint which removes it. Hope this helps you all

Claybar is for experienced people, but compound is not?
IT's way easier to take off your clear coat with a compound than with a claybar. Anyone can figure out a claybar.

Don't you know? Theyre going to fully unassemble your car, acid dip it, buff it, wax it, maybe even repaint it. Reassemble, change your oil, clean the interior, and throw an sc/t hood and spoiler on it for your trouble.

You think we are all wrong???????
COMPOUND? WTF.

There is no way to screw up paint using a claybar. Compound is for a person who knows what they are doing, it is an abrasive, CLAY is not. I think you got your facts backwards.

I still find it weird that on the cars I have seen, the spots really only stick to the plastic areas.....mainly the rear bumper. I just use a claybar now, and it comes right off....no problem. NO COMPOUND!!!! wtf

Lets not flame....I think he might have just gotten the two mixed up...anywhow, his explanation of why the spots appear does seem quite legit, so maybe you oughta head down to the dealer and see what they say.

This is from my owners manual:

Chemical Paint Spotting:

Some weather and atmospheric conditions can create a chemical fallout. Airborner pollutants can fall upon and attack painted surfaces on your vechile. This damage can take two forms: blotchly, ringlet-shaped discolorations, and small irregular dark spots etched into the paint surface.
Although no defect in the paint job caues this, Pontiac will repair, at no charge to the owner, the surface of the new vechile damaged by this fallout condition within 12 months or 12,000 miles of purchase.

Now when i purchased my vechile I noticed this fallout on my vechile and when I went to the dealer they said in order to remove it they will acid wash it. Now I have no idea what he meant by that I was just telling you all that was told to me. i dont
need some of you guys jumping down my throat about things I said. If im wrong it wouldnt be the first time nor the last. About the claybar thing I got em mixed up sorry. I wasnt trying to be rude when i mentioned that you were all wrong but since I have had experience with this sort of problem I thought I would share my thoughts and experiences but Ive learned my lesson.
Also call up your local dealership and ask them how they get rid of the fallout and please post it.

Nick

an acid wash is MUCH different than an acid dip. a dip implies that the entire car is submerged in a liquid.....

thanks for the clarification though.....
