Whats better, Pioneer or Alpine Visual Audio?

Right now i'm looking at spendin a lil money on visual audio. I'm looking at the Pioneer AVH-P7500 or the Alpine IVA-D900. I believe both are at the same level, I just don't know what's going to be better with color and price. I don't want to spend above $1000. I looked at the AVH-P6500 and its the same, but half an inch smaller and it doesn't look like it has the same level of pixels nor does it have MP3. I spoke with a few salespeople at Circuit City and they said I can install this without having to replace the rest of my speakers. Is this true? I can get refurbished units of both model numbers for around 700-900. Any tips, advice? Thanks guys! I didn't get a chance to search just cause i'm really interested in doing this probably tonight or so.

The alpine has a plasma screen instead of a LCD so it will have alot better picture. and im not a fan of the any touchscreen like on the pioneer, just something about greasy fingers grinding dirt and oil into the screen and putting undue stress on the chassis of the unit by pushing on a barely supported screen.

I just wish Alpine didn't look so plasticy cheap. So if I do purchase this unit, will I just be able to plug it right into the stock wiring and speakers?

Unfortunately, these alpine's don't have hard drives. But the IVA-D900 is pretty nice...I may just have to save up and purchase this one..http://www.alpine-usa.com/html/D2_n_1_n_n.html

Yeah no kidding. Its got everything all in one. I just talked to someone on eBay and they are sellin em for an affordable price of $700 a piece. Apparently the audio shop his friend works for "overstocked" on these specific headunits and they're lookin to sell em. Either way, i'm interested

Man o man, Circuit City and Best Buy both suck! I went to two different locations in Sterling Heights today at both stores. Neither had one, if not no indash dvd/cd players in stock. I finally decided to give ABC Warehouse a try. They said they had them in stock, so I decided what the heck, lets go give it a shot. Needless to say, the guys over there worked me a HELL of a deal on a Pioneer 6500 dvd/cd/mp3 indash system. It works great and looks sweet! My first indash dvd system! They said it would have somewhat of a Graphical Interface (it isn't much at all) but i'm getting used to the system so far. Works pretty much just like my old pioneer headunit in my 94 ga. I'll post pictures as soon as I get the chance!

Mind you, this is my first system. I also put it on a ABC warehouse credit card, so i'm thinking I will pay it off then shop around for possible better ones. I'm noticing the lack of dolby digital 5.1 sound..we'll see. First, I have to get used to this one.

Thanks Kyle. I'm gonna have to play around with the options some more and get used to it. I'm just afraid when my first bill comes in the mail and my mom asks what it is..

Get at least a 3 year warranty on that head unit...I usually pass on the warranty but something that expensive its worth covering your arse b/c it aint cheap to repair.

The least they had was a 2 year. To be honest with you though...i've had some second thoughts on this.

I.. spent all my money on the HU
I.. don't think my mom will be happy when she finds out, infact I definately see her threatening to kick me out considering schools starting soon and I didn't register classes
I..'m not that impressed with it. The screen savers arn't a big deal, and the DVD function is nice when you're with a group of people watching in the parking lot, like last night, but that isn't going to be frequent.

I'm starting to think I might have made the wrong decision on this..for the price, I could have gotten alot of stuff that I had been wanting. Thinking this may have been a very foolish purchase.
