New Toyota Supra

Don't like the front. Rear looks good though. This is just a drawing and isn't final. But i'm glad to hear toyota bringing back the supra.

Hate the front end here, too. The back is okay, but still needs work. The side profile draws a striking resemblance to that of a previous-gen Viper GTS.

the front looks way to ugly, the back looks like a front of a car and looks a lot like an eclipse rear. I am guessing they are bringing this back because mazda brought the rx-8 out and nissan the 350z. We are living the early 90s all over again.

On that note...wasn't the designer of the new Viper an old designer for Toyota?

Nissan has plans for a Skyline for America too. Should be badged and Infinity tho with a V8 for North America because supposedly Americans are too stupid to maintain high performance turbo engines or something, which is why their 300Z didn't sell. Who the hell knows?

I believe that when those kind of engine run on air they will be back, but until then we are going to have to drive what we have.

The sports car market is going to be EXTREMELY competitive in just about every price range. Competition = Very good for the consumer

...price of the 300ZX was a big factor into why it didn't really sell too well... price is actually what killed off the last Supra, 300ZX, and RX-7... that's why these new Japanese sports cars cost much less than their previous incarnations...

And most likely all will have much much less mod potential, or at least easy mod potential.

The 300Z didn't sell because it was the same price as the Supra (which accepts mods very easily and has a strong L6), the VR-4 which had AWD and all the techno gadgets you could want, and the RX7 was a very sport little mod-ready turbo rotary, very unique and massive power is possible. Meanwhile, I barely see that many 300Zs that were even able to get past the 500 hp mark at the rear wheels. Plus IMO, the 300z was UGLY compared to the other Japanese supercars.

He's just saying name recognition. Used to be all about the American street muscle, now it's about imports. Honestly I'm kinda sick of hearing about Supras and crap too. Every single one of those cars is for the more elite group of people (except the WRX base version) wheras the Cuda, Charger, Nova, Chevelle, Camaro etc. were for the regular joe that wanted something mean.

People sit here and talk about each of those cars all the time, in most cases knowing they'll never be able to afford one, whereas back in the day people could talk about those musclecars and picture themselves owning one (and could own one if they just saved a little).

RX7's were done away with because of their poor reliability and people in the USA not knowing how to take care of them, not price. If people knew back then, what they know now it would be a different story. The RX7 has been sold up till the 2000 model year in Japan.

One of the major auto mags built up a 300Z over like a year, and got to the 500hp mark...and all it ran was a 12.8. Pretty sad for that much power. Especially when I've got videos of an RX-7 and Supra each doing 9.8s.

But the fact of the matter is that the RX7 was too expensive to own, maintenance is included in how much one can afford, am I not correct? Also, the RX7 was still priced high (not overpriced, just expensive) and had decently high insurance rates I'm sure, so they were definately expensive by all means, especially compared to past musclecars that were really really affordable (beyond what many people today could imagine).

check out motorex.net and see how much a nice Skyline R-32 GTS w/ 38k on the odometer is goin for.. $25000

and there was a Skyine R-32 GTR w/ 34k on the odo that went for $34000

wish I was in the market for a car right now.

basically it has to do with when you grew up.for me it was mid 80's f-bodies.for my mom it was all the gas-guzzlin classics.and for my brother it was the beginning of the import deluge.unless mommy and daddy were buying you your car you got what you could afford.unfortunately now, when your kid gets to be old enough to drive, performance will be out of their price range, unless you buy used.c'mon, the new GTO starting at 35k,w/o the inevitable dealer mark-up ?while i love the car and would snap it up in a heartbeat for that kinda money i'm going BMW or new maxima.maybe not as fast, obviously, but comfort and cool-gadget factor come into play.and as far as suv's go,i think they'll eventually phase out to cheaper and more environmentally save alternative's.alright,i'm done..
