Audio input on stock HU

Does anyone know how I would go about wiring a pair of RCA plugs into the stock monsoon system on my 03?
I was testing out my new hardwired power inverter with an old LCD screen from my 94, and realized I could throw it in the glove box until I get my new HU. buuuttt.... I dont have audio input, . Any ideas?

Only way you could do it now is with some sort of FM modulator.. Or one of those old school things that you stick in the tape deck that used to let you use your discman in the car

Other than that... you are beat

one option of input

on some factory head units, there was an option for an add on
cassette deck that went right below the ac controls. there just may be an optional input plug on the back of your factory head unit. hope that helps out

good luck

What about a line out converter that taps into speaker wires? It has RCA ends.

Speaker wires would be outputs, not inputs like he is wanting. Unless things are backwards up in Canuck-ville....

What are you thinking? I would like to know a good way to input a signal into my Monsson as well (right now I use the cassette adapter method). Thanks.

okay, heres a little bit more info to help

from the factory cassette deck to the main stereo, there is a 8 wire harness. in that harness you have a left , right , and common wire you can tap into.

orange/blk-left
lt green-right
lt blue- common

now heres the tricky part.

there is a dark green wire which is your input select trigger, but
try and figure out how it works to make it happen.

good luck

Really, though - wouldn't an FM mod be easier?

fm modulator would be easier but will not give the same s/n ratio like a direct connection.
plus, the quality of the sound will be limited to the quality of the factory stereo. (i will not make any comments about that)
if you like, use the fm mode version. it is easier. just make sure you use a GOOD one. watch out for engine noise and other things that make the conversion less desirable.

good luck

So this will work on a 2001 Grand Am SE with the stock cd player?
