Sound good?
I have 2 2002 kicker comp 12's and receiving a MTX 2300x amp(thanks car audio dave from GAOC), probably going to do a sealed box. Sound like a decent set up? As long as it sounds good I'm not going to complain. Super professional high quality OMG that's amazing sound quality isn't a big issue of mine. I listen to a lot of trance and techno along with about every other type of music, and figured this would feed my craving for more bass over my stock system. Also getting some 3 way sony xplod 6x9's for teh deck lid(another cheap deal), figure with those, some nice 4x6 replacements in the door and a decent deck like a Pioneer or Alpine I might be doing good

my opinion:
subs are great subs ![]() sony sucks stay away from them put some 6.5"s in the doors and not 4x6's you'll love em so much better, oval speakers (IMO) arent as good as circle ones if u need any help/advice just post it ![]() |

Well they're already bought, definitely cheap, but I will definitely pull em if they sound like crap. Already eyeing some Alpine's anyways
![]() I'll think about doing the switch to teh bigger door speaker as well. Also, the amp I'm using will do 333x2 at a 2 ohm load and my subs are 4 ohm, will it damage them if I run them at 2 ohms? The more power the better, the amp will do like 175x2 at 4 ohm and I was really hoping to get them CLOSE to their peak power so no worries about underpowering them and causing worse problem. I just don't want to do something stupid and blow them up ![]() |

MB Quart!! MB Quart!! MB Quart!! Oh, they sound sooo nice. if you have subs... I would almost say screw the 6x9's.... and put 6½ components all the way around. Or 6½ coax's if you want to go a less expensive route.

if you have 2 4 ohm subs.... you can get a 2 ohm load.... but then it will only be to one channel. It sounds like you have a 2 channel amp..... so each sub would be a 4 ohm load. Check out some car audio sites and it will all make sense. With what you have right now... you will only be able to run the amp at with the 175x2 @ 4 ohms.

when you hook your amp up what your going to do is run 2 wires from the Left "+" (one wire to each sub "+" posts) then 2 wires to the "-" of each sub, that'll give you a 2 ohm load |

you CAN bridge to a 2 ohm load.... but probably 80% or more of 2 channel amps will not run stable as 2 ohm bridged.

i dont know why everybody raves about MB Quart, i personally think they suck unless you get a high line, the high line is outrageous. Buy a Oz Audio component set that'll blow those MB's out of the water anyday of the week. Even the "low line" Oz component sets.

Well he said SQ is'nt that big a deal, so I would'nt suggest MB Quart, Oz, ID or Focal, just because of the cost factor. (but I would bet if he heard them, he might change his mind about SQ). I would have suggested a 'middle of the road' speaker, ie Infinity, JBL, Polk, Crystal, etc. I would suggest 5¼" or 6½" up front. MTX makes good amps. Are those kickers the comp or comp VR versions. I usually recommend sealed, but I've owned several sets of comps in the past, and I believe ported is the way to go with these. JMO Good Luck!

Yeah 170 for a 6 1/2 set is a bit too pricey. BTW I'm still deciding on what I want to do with the subs. 1 person says I can run both subs very sufficiently with this amp and the next says no only run 1. I may simply run 1 sub instead of the 2, but I'm not real sure yet. They're just comps, not comp vr's, and I'm going to do them or IT(whenever I decide how many ot use) in a sealed box, not ported. Thanks for all the heads up, I'll likely end up with all infinity speakers, got a buddy who can get em pretty cheap so I may get me some of those

depends on what you consider nice sounding. a ported box will be louder, but it will be less accurate at the same time. you dont see very many SQ setups that will be running a ported box.
