Post Heard From Jace Stokes Via Email !

I received a response from Jace Stokes today. It has some interesting news. Check it out.

Hello Keith!

Great to hear from you so soon after our record-breaking homecoming event in Lansing MI last month! I still can’t believe we had 81 vehicles with 137 dedicated Grand Am enthusiasts from all over the US and Canada proudly representing grandamgt.com.

Please accept my response to your email on behalf of our “gotta have product” Vice Chairman Bob Lutz. I assure you he personally reads all communications and asked me to respond since I am the closest to answering your questions.

Awesome Grand Am GT1! When I saw your email and especially the pictures you sent it sure makes a powerful statement about the SC/T “connection” with our enthusiast owners! I admire your passion, and especially the time and expense you have put into your “daily drive and show car too!”

We are planning to produce a special edition model for this spring, and conclude the production run with a commemorative signature edition to celebrate the success we have enjoyed with this top selling Pontiac! Few automakers can hold up a product that has accomplished what Grand Am has for General Motors over the last 30 years!

With regard to your questions about improved performance on this generation Grand Am, we will have a strategy unveiled at the Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) this November in Las Vegas. I believe based on your current modifications what we intend to market in conjunction with our Service Parts Operations will further compliment your Grand Am SC/T.

Please feel free to email me anytime you have a question or some product insight. We value your product suggestions and most importantly your patronage!

Jace Stokes
Grand Am Product Manager

Hmm...I smell tail lights, new spoilers and headlights in the future.

I'm excited.

I sure hope so. I sure hope they don't get our hopes up then come SEMA they disappoint. GM, do it right this time. Release that American Tuner kit, the GXP tailz, the projector headlights. This is what i'm looking forward too. Don't let me or many others down.

That's pretty impressive that he responded to your email. That's a far better response than what ECAP recieved. And what alot of us want to hear.

Did you read the part, " a strategy based on my current modications". Hmmm? May there be an SC on this "Special Edition"?

This is the email I sent:

Dear Mr. Lutz,

I am writing out of concern for the Grand Am. The Grand Am is a sleek, nice handling vehicle that lacks the performance to match its looks. Currently, there is a growing aftermarket for the current Grand Am('99-up). I would like to know, when can the Grand Am expect to receive the performance it desperately  needs? I am aware the G6 will be out in a year or so, but will there be a 'Limited Edition', to signal the end of a very successful  product run? A performance-oriented(supercharged SC/T type) car is what I am getting at. I certainly hope so. It would definitely sell .

I am the proud owner of a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT1. My car sports an Eaton/Magnuson Supercharger and various other perfomance mods. My vehicle has been featured in Pontiac Excitement Magazine(Spring, 2003/Grand Am Edition) and most recently in High Performance Pontiac Magazine(October, 2003 edition). I am a member of the website www.grandamgt.com and a true Pontiac performance enthusiast. My car is fast, beautiful and has nice aftermarket goodies. I have enclosed a few pictures for your review. I patterned my car after the 'SC/T' showcars. I have the Supercharger, the 'Recaro seats, the H & R springs, a 2.5" supercharger pulley and most importantly, the power.

In closing, thank you for your time and I await your response. The Grand Am is a driver's car, just waiting for your 'Magic Touch'.

Best Regards,
Keith R. Lawson

I should send Stokes an email concerning the Factory XM receiver not being released. I want this unit. It should be out by now.

RSM, by far, ...centrifugal blowers are able to make more boost than roots blowers.
