a friend at my work just got one, brand new had 12 miles on it, he was showing it to me oh my freaking god, rotary engine, with a turbo, u pop the super light hood and theres nothing down there, its gotta nice intercooler, with the radiator, on both sides of the front bumper(kinda were our indentations are, but his is open the the elements) its sitting on 18's factory, red pearl paint, projection headlights, that are self leveling, gauge cluster is like the vibes, gotta pistol grip e-brake, and sooo comfy...and it got balls, 280 hp RWD for 35k, it does look sharp, just not sure if i like the azz end of it, but IMO a very very nice car, not his but an identical car

Huh? Turbo? 280 HP?

From where.

RX-8 are not turbo'd and they have 238 HP (advertised).

Is this some special edition that is not advertised anywhere?

I got to sit in one yesterday at a car show and I must say they are very nice. I'd buy one if I had the money, but 31k is a bit out of my price range...

The tech specs are nice, but I could not stand having to get into such a butt-ugly car as that every day... I could never buy one.

Well, it does look a h*ll of a lot better than any Integra.

I wouldn't buy one though either, 'cuz I like torque/power throughout the RPM range.b

Last I heard there was no turbo in the RX-8

No turbo. If your friend told you that then he was either BS or needs to be told he got misinformed.

Also, it is far from 280, or even the Mazda specs. Mazda has already readministered an update lowering the specs and is even offering buybacks if people are angry. Many are dynoing at 160 rwhp...or around 220 at the flywheel. Not blazing by any means, but still a fun car to drive.

Ya gotta check the Mazdaspeed version

There was one with the kit..and an AFTERMARKET turbo in it at HIN. HKS also has one as a show car with a turbo.

I'm curious as to what you find good looking. Because the RX-8 sure isn't butt ugly. I don't know what your looking at.

i don't like the 8 either, it looks too bulky for me. i perfer the 7 over that.

...cause i dont know anything about this car anyways, but its still decent even with 230 some odd HP

Don't forget though. Many RX-8 owners are seeing less than 10 mpg in daily driving. Not sure what is up with that, or if they have identified the problem yet.

Although that is low..rotary engines are well known to consume much more gas than a traditional engine.

Drove a rx8 while looking for mini and 350z very nice car looks cool and a blast to drive but I couldnt pass up the power of the 350z.

Those radiators are Oil coolers. Sounds like a 6 spd. Velocity Red color with Xenon SP? headlights. Ask if its a Sport or see if it has a sunroof if so then its either a Touring or Grand Touring optioned one.

I was really going for the RX8 but when Ford announced that the Marauder was being axed then collectability was more appealing to me as most Impala SS 94/96 go for around 25% less than what they went for new.

It's gutless compared to what was expected, and no one is buying it. You have to slap $4k plus into it with a Kenny Bell SC to get the power it SHOULD have had stock.
