How to tell a V6 Mustang

Whenever I'm at a stop light and a Mustang pulls up next to me, I want to race it. But I know that the V8 would own my car... I think I could run a V6 so, is there any badges or any other way to tell if it is a V6?

94-98: It will say GT of show the Cobra sign on the side if its a V8...some people put it on V6's, so be careful.

99-02: There wont be a hood scoop, no bullet style rims, they will have silver 5-star pony rims.

03+: same as above, but they now offer the "GT" package which is the hood scoop on it. Just look for the line of Mustang Ponies at the bottom of the door.

if he pulls up next to you...how will you see it? Oh, I know...if all you see is its ass end pulling from you...then you know its a GT or a cobra.

I believe the newer Mustangs from about 94 and up, the V8's have stock fog lights as well. The V6's dont come with foglights unless they put them on themselves.

the side badges, if it has a cobra or a gt badge it's a v8, if it has the gay horse with the red white and blue stripes then it's a v6.

everything told so far is correct. Easiest ways are if you see the front first, look for foglights (V8), from the back first look for dual exhaust (V8).

However, if from the side, look at the wheels/tires. if it has big balloon looking tires and cheesy plain rims it is the V6.

When you get the TOGs and CAI..don't be afraid to run with a V8 from a roll...you'll hold pretty close or take him so long as their car is stock.

I think the sound of a V8 mustang is VERY distinct from any other car (besides a Ford Lightning). If you can't hear the engine at idle, then it is a v6.

What makes you think that? When I was at LVD, stock mustang GT's were running low 14's.

Last time I checked, you can tell a v6 mustang because its 1.5 seconds behind you after you cross the 1/4 mile mark

Running a vehicle from a dead stop is completely different than running a vehicle from a roll.

From 40-140 I'll be pretty confident challenging anyone in my RX7 unless the car is a mammoth beast. However, from a dead stop you have to worry about turbo spooling, traction, yadda yadda.

A Mustang GT from a roll is possible. Fishhunter911 and I were down at OCMD last year and a Mustang GT didn't want anything to do with me, so he went after Joe. They both slammed on it and went up to 120, they were neck and neck. Joe's GT has a CAI and Magnaflow.

WRONG!!!!

99 and 00 had the 35th anniversary badges on the side. I forgot about the foglights also. Another one is the front bumper....the GT's and up have the bulkier bottom where the forlights are compared to the 6's.
