ps2 up in da ride!!!/ 7" lcd

got a 7" widescreen lcd monitor and hooked up my ps2 to it... also, got it wired so i can put in my video camera and play it on the screen with audio as well as a vcr not for vhs tapes, but for an antenna tuner...

the monitor is mounted in front of the center vent, there is an radio shack () audio selector mounted where the old tape deck was. ( i only have 1 audio in on my deck). the camera wire sits in the center counsol till i need it, and the ps2 and vcr cable hide in the old cupholder part that pulls out for the back seat... ( took the cupholder crap out of it) so u cant see it when not in use!!!

converter just sits under the passanger seat.....

although i dont have dolby digital, 2 fast 2 furious sounds sweet coming through the stereo and 2 12" subs.

its not a fancy monitor, but i like it...

let me know what ya think!!

its easy man, you have to buy a DC to AC power converter, all this does is it plugs into your ciragerette liter and goes to a box where it converts the dc-ac and there is a plug on the other end of this box to plug the playstation into...

for the picture, you just use the same cords that go to your tv... the yellow is the video, i didnt have to use a modulator, cause i just have a screen with no speakers, im using my headunit as my audio ( i have an (audio in) so thats why i dont need a modulator...

easy as that, my screen was $209, dc-ac converter $35 and then the ps2 for $200

That's hella sweet! Where'd you pick up a DC to AC converter? So your actual headunit has an audio in? Damn, thats hella bad. Maybe I should swap out my stock stereo afterall... Where does your screen derive power from?

nice!... looks like a good install too.

i just installed my PS2, super nintendo, and a vcr to my 6.5" flip-down LCD too a little time, but was worth it. i still need to clean it up though (i fiberglassed just a little bit to hold things in, and its rough right now). i'll have to get some pictures up when i got through with it

thats fine... but heres what i got.

Sima is a good brand with many features/specs. do some reading though before you decide which you prefer. this inverter meant my needs.

my screen came with a vcr. the screen goes to the vcr, and the vcr goes to the car battery. just came that way.

i'm sure other screens may be different... but they all need power (either from an inverter or battery).

How'd you run it to the car battery? Through the firewall or what? My amp power wire is running off the battery, but I had that professionally installed and it runs under the car. Could I somehow tap into that? Thanks for the help, man!

tapping into a amp/sub power wire can be bad or good.

good side:
you dont have run another wire off your battery and send another wire through the firewall.

bad side:
splicing your power wire to run another application may cause ground loop (that buzzing sound through your speakers).

i ran my screen through a wire to the battery (came with the screen). but i ran my power inverter off my amp/sub power wire. i seperated the wires as much as i could so i would avoid ground loop. i wouldnt recommend running more than 1 thing off the amp/sub power wire. and also, dont forget you'd want to add a fuse on the power wire AND the wire you used to splice the power wire to the inverter (whatever you are sending power to) dont want to overload it without a fuse.

if you have any other questions... PM me or start a thread in the "Car Audio, Video & Security" section. dont want to hijack magyver's thread

hey, thanks for the quick replys balludc,

the lcd has a red and black wire coming from it, soi just grounded my blackwire at the screw in my fuse panel and hooked the red wire right in with the door lock fuse, the lcd already had a fusable link in it so i could... all ya do is take the fuse out, put the wire in where the metal lead of the fuse is and then shove the fuse back in there... thats realy the easiest way to do it...

not to worry bout the questions, balludc and me arent affraid to answer!!!

Sounds nice! I d-loaded a program that puts a header file on CDR to play MP3 on PS2 is why I asked. I don't have a PS2 so I have never used it to see if it really works. I keep talking myself out of buying a PS2 but will probably break down one of these days and buy one!

i tried to put it off too... thinking it was a phase. i use it alot though, with playing games and dvds... now using it in my car. it was worth the money in the long run (for me anyway)

and what program is that you are talking about??
