Lower intake gasket??

Last week my low coolant light came on so I topped up the resevoir with about 1/2 a quart of dex-cool. There is no white stuff on my dip stick however the top of the oil cap when I take it off shows kinda reddish. Do you think that is anti freeze sneaking in the engine?
I only have about 4000km (about 2400 miles) to go before my extended warrenty is up.

Take it to the dealer and have them do a pressure test.

Take it to the dealership! Get it done before warranty runs out.

Stopped into the dealer today. Brought my oil filler cap to the service desk and said "this looks like coolant mixing with my oil" the guy at the service desk says "that (the wihite milky mixture)is nothing to worry about , it is only condensation....it happens whenever the colder weather happens". I disagreed with him so on Wednesday he said to bring it in and they will take a look to see if the gasket is leaking. The only problem is I won't be there..I have to go out of town and will be leaving my car there for a few days until I return home....I hope they don't try to screw me on this one.

No he is right That does happend when it gets colder, more so woth Moble 1, But regardless GET A PRESSURE TEST DONE! You dont want to let Coolant eat up your bearings. Lets us know how it goes.

P.S. You can probably rent a pressure tester.

He said they will "look" at it. Can you tell by looking or do you have to do a pressure test to be sure?

Well if you have the Really bad milcky crap, i mean really milcky like a CM Tick then you kind know there is colant in the oil. But if it is just starting a pressure test will tell you for sure. In any case i was always suggest a pressure test. What kind of oil do you use?

alright like I said last time I just had my gaskets replaced, and now a few days ago, my car has started leaking oil. I would assume that it obiviously has some connection seeing how I just had it in and all of a sudden this starts happeneing. Any ideas or suggestions.

Thanks for the advice. The dealer changed the lower intake gasket. Hopfully the new one will last longer than the original.

They are supposed to be improved from the original (according to the TSB).

the new style gasket uses a black gasket material instead of the blue ones. it also has metal stoppers built into the gasket so you can torque the side bolts more and not crush the plastic part of the gasket. also new bolts SHOULD HAVE been installed that have a new loc-tite to grip better. i have faith in these new gaskets!!

New bolts were put on when they did mine... or at least they billed GM for them on the invoice :-)

, you might eat those words. Someone on here had the new gaskets and 3000 miles later they were back at the dealer. Im on my thrid set of gaskets right now, first set shot at 17K, second set at 24K, and third set currently at 26K. I dont have to much faith in GM at all, my service history list at the top of my invoices look more like a novels then anything else. Im sure I will be seeing them again before I sell the car in March.

You're on a 3rd set of gaskets in 26,000 miles !! Thats crazy! My 2000 is at 29,000 and haven't had a problem yet (knock on wood). I'd say you have had some horrible luck. Is there anything I can do to try and help prolong that from happening? Any warning signs?? I've heard all these horror stories about coolant leaking and replaceing gaskets. Just curious. Thanks.
