Unhappy My new GA is constantly broke

I've owned my brand new Grand Am GT 61/2 months and it's been in the shop 6 times for repeating electrical problem. Each time its gone in the shop it's left with more repairs done to it than I went in with. The lastest was something drained the battery??? IT's fixed at the present time but I'm definatly worried it's not going to last long. Has anyone had this problem? Mine is a 2002 Grand Am Gt?!?!?

No problem of that kind with my 2002 GAGT1... All I had done was a back cornering light that was leaking water in. My windshield looks like it's made out of paper (3 cracks in 9 months) but apparently that's not covered...

Nothing wrong with the electrical system.

Hope they can fix it good so you can get to enjoy it to it's fullest

I see you found the forum I mentioned.
At least I'm guessing you are the person I mentioned this site to in the Service Department at the Pontiac dealership last weekend.
I'm glad things are fixed now, I just hope they can find a problem and correct it instead of just covering it up.

The windows broke twice, every time I opened the driver side door the trunk would pop, that was a good one, there's a squeeking noise under the car that's still sqeeking, ummm, something drained the battery, never did figure out what that was all about, a pulley was worn out, a belt was worn out and the weather strip feel off the inside the the passenger door, I think that's it but I"m not sure. They were making repairs on the car for stuff I didn't even know was wrong so....
Yes, I am the one you meet at the dealership!
Thanks for the advice!

Thought it was you. Couldn't imagine two people in the area having about the same problems.
Sorry I don't have any other ideas on what it might be, I just hope the dealer does the right thing if they can't fix the problems 100%.

I have a 2002 GAGT1 that has been in for the Fog Lights, Didn't work when I picked up the car. I have had the radio replaced 5 times due to the CD player working, notworking, even ate one of my cd's. I am going in soon to have the DS window replaced since it's all scratched up. I was also told by a different dealer then where I bought that the doors had been off the car prior to me picking up. I don't know why, but they say it happened.

With all that said I still love this car!

I love the car too but geeze, If you have 1 problem with them they seem to turn into a lot more! Oh well, hopefully it'll be okay now!

My Car is Broke Again!

Okay everybody, I thought it could go atleast 2 weeks until another problem but no! Now my passenger side seat and seat belt are not usable. The seat won't move and the seat belt won't either. I think I've just about had it!

Lemon LAW! That sucks man, when I had 36,000 miles on my car the dealer did $19,000 in WARRANTY repairs on it. Then when it hit 50,000 miles the Power Steering pump started leaking, So I traded it in and have not looked back! I miss my little car but man the problems were not worth it when going to school 100 miles from home. Now I have put my faith in GM once again and have a 2002 Sierra Z71, 8,000miles and no problems yet.

Sorry to hear that....
Don't back down from them, keep pushing on them to get it fixed (if you don't go lemon, you'll need all this fixed to trade or sell).
BTW, what have you been driving all this time, do you have access to another car, or has the dealer made one available for you?

My window has broken twice too...apparently a big problem on '02s...other than that and mysterious, occassional clunk under the car, its been fine...then again, it only has 5,200 miles on it!

Well I just added up my repair history from all 3 different dealerships. 6 1/2 pages of repairs in 50K miles. Get rid of the car now while you still can. I f'ed up, don't make my mistake.

Actually, I've been talking to the coperate office about what's going on and really been staying on top of it. They are realizing that if I sew them with the lemon law, which I can do becuase I do have the criteria to do it, then they are going to loose the money. If they just settle it within the dealership then they get to keep there money. It's sort of sounding like they may give me a new car even though I don't really want another pontiac to deal with. We'll see.I don't want to sell becuase then I'm out alot of money and I don't wnat that, plus I'd feel bad selling a car that doesn't work very good to someone else to have to deal with.

Just be aware the lemon law litigation is a very long and involved process. It would be amazing to me, though, that the dealer would "settle this". I have never seen them do that before.

If you have time to dig around on the internet, go to http://www.edmonds.com and go waaaay back in the Impala and Monte Carlo message archives. There are some guys there who logged their lemon law experiences and kept their buddies informed to the progress.

Basically for them, from start to finish, they averaged three months AFTER success before they received a replacement vehicle.

Don't bow to the corporate office. I know michigan lemon law states that they must repay all of your money back. Don't accept another grand am from them, get your money back. If you actually wanted another grand am the money they give you back would be a good down payment with the current apr's and lower your monthly considerably. Might even be able to step up to a gtp.
