Mr Clean auto dry

Anyone try this yet? I've seen it on TV a number of times and I read about it at firebirdv6.com and they seem to like it.
For those of you who have not seen it, it's a device that uses filters to take out the minerals in water so the water will not leave spots. You wash your car and rinse it with this unit and the car will dry itself with no spots.
My guess is it works as advertised if it's a hot day out. If there is no sun or the temp is low I would bet it takes quite a long time for your car to dry. This could cause a problem for us Zaino users as I don't want to wait forever to apply my Z-6.
Anyone here try it?

I would never trust anything but a sponge, hot soapy water, and a good hand waxing

You can only buy it on TV, it comes to retail stores *assuming Walgreens* this spring.

I've seen it, and will try it. I will still hand dry my car when Zaino'ing, but for inbetween times when I'm too lazy to dry it off, I'll use that product. I believe it will work, because spot free carwashes use distilled water (purified), which is why they don't leave spots... for the most part.

Nah, it's just like washing your car with distilled water (I know a guy who actually use to buy distilled water to wash his car with).

My buddy said he tried it and it worked, so who knows...

I will be getting it, and using it this spring... Of course, I'll hand dry when I am about to polish, etc.

yeah i got it for christmas and i think its awesome. my sponge was so dirty after i was done. the only problem (which it really isnt) but you have to make sure you rub your sponge all over your car or youll leave dirt behind. and it really does dry without the streaks. i did try like 4 days after christmas and it was alittle chilly but it still worked really well so i cant wait to usei t in warmer weather.

For the cost I think I will just hand dry. The starter unit pack is 20 bucks then the filters only last for 10 uses according to the refill pack which is another 5 bucks and the soap I think is about 5 bucks. Megs or other brand of car wash soap is like 3-5 bucks for a big bottle and hand drying doesn't take that long. And what I do if there are streaks and and spots after drying is I'll take Quick detailer and go over the whole car in about 5 mins. Like I said I think can spend my money on other things. Auto dry sounds like it was designed for the lazy suburban yuppie with nothing better to do with his money.

Yeah, I can take my chamois and have my car spotless like that in 5 minutes after washing it. It would just seem lazy to me to not dry off the car, but I am a detail freak when it comes to my vehicles. I enjoy taking the time to make it look good.

Yes, it works. I got one and used it on my black GTP and Lesleys white GAGT, no spots when drying. I still use a bucket and mitt while washing, with the Mr Clean adding its little soap, rinse and then "spot free" rinse them. Drying them in the sun and no spots. I expected it to work on the white car, but was very pleasantly surprised to see how well it worked on the black one.

I'll chime in here....I will admit I always have to try everything, so I bought this, but I have yet to use it. In theory, this should work really well, and I have high expectations. One of the best methods for drying is using a leaf blower, followed by a microffiber waffle weave, and then lastly by 100% cotton towel. I would NOT suggest a chamois, as it can strip the wax off. I'd say give this a try. A lot of the detail guys I know really think highly of this product, so it can't be that bad!

Its alright

The unit uses soap very quickly and the soap leaves a residue on the car that makesv the water pool up on the windows after it rains.. Other soaps seem to sheen water my back windshield was full of large beads....... Better than no beads but the sheeting action is what I like... Even after driving for a few minutes the beads were hanging on for dear life..

Wonder if you can use other soap and still use the filtered water to get the same effect?

it says that other soap can be bad for the sprayer thing by clogging it up. so i dont think i would want to try it.

Well, im thinking if you spray the car with the water from the mr clean thing, then soap it with a bucket like usual, then rinse it with the filtered water.
