Snow Brushes and PAINT

Just wondering if the snow brushes that you can buy at like autozone will scratch the paint on the car when you brush the snow off? IF so, what is a good product, or kind of brush to use to get the snow off? I have a black car, so I'm really worried about using the brush...... Maybe these don't scratch paint, but I'm not going to take the chance until I find out for sure. Anyone??

I usee a car wash brush for the snow on the hood and etc., and the stiffer snow brush for the windows.

I got a new 16" wooden floor broom with a wood handle. I've printed "Snow Only" across the back so no one uses it to sweep the floor. It has soft black bristles like a paint brush.

I don't think that a snow brush would damage paint. If it did, the manufacturer would be paying for a bunch of paint jobs. I have, however, dimpled my trunk lid by using a snow brush handle to break up the ice slab in order to open the trunk at a store. Didn't notice it till spring.

I just went to Canadian Tire and looked for and found the brush with the softest bristles possible. Plastic scraper on the other end for glass. I never try to get ice off the PAINT, you'll end up scrratching it in the process, I just let it melt off, only brushing off the majority of snow with the brush.

A couple good coats of wax in the spring will cover any winter carnage.

car covers are horrible for cars... no one in their right mind would use one - at least for rain/snow conditions

stopping fade in the heat is one thing, but car covers are no good for rain/snow

A few thoughts...First, NEVER use ANY brush to get snow off if you can help it! They WILL damage the finish! Try to use a towel wrapped around your arm or some other means of getting the snow off. It kills me to see people literally SCRAPING snow off! Ahhhh!

As far as car covers go, if you buy a good quality one, they are PERFECTLY safe to use in ALL conditions. I bought a high quality NOAH cover and it has been used in all conditions, and is made for four season use. So, as long as you spend a little cash you are in perfect shape. Beyond that, I know snow is tough to deal with, and the best thing I can say is to use a high quality wax/sealant, as this will make snow, rain, and slush slide off a lot easier.

As always....Shine on!
Brett

I used to work part time at a V-Dub dealership and they had these cool snowbrushes that were a handle and then like a foam/rubber thingy on the end to move the snow. Worked real well, and I don't think it messed up the paint at all. Not too sure where you can get one from though.

I only brush the snow off my windows. The wind takes off the rest on my way to work.

Its a top 10 pet peeve of mine when people don't brush off the snow, only a window patch, and especially not off the headlights.

Ahh, good thing there is a ticket for that in Ontario.

I brush off ALL the windows and i brush off my head lights and tail lights. It takes maybe a 1/4 mile for all the snow to come off. I would rather p!ss off a few drivers than pay for having body work done.
