Car Goes into the Shop Tomorrow

Tomorrow the 13th, my grand am will be going into the shop for a lil adjustment. Nothing big, just running some tubing to my new intecooler, that runs to my brand new t3/t4 turbo. Yup thas right another grandam getting blown. Pretty similar setup too phantoms for those who have seen it, but mine is a completly custom job. I will be boosting 6 lbs in the next week. By the time of GAP i will be running more around 8 or 9 lbs.

Couple of drool over parts
Spearco Front Mount Intercooler
T3/T4 Turbo
Greddy Blow off Valve

ohhhhhhhhhh a blow off valve!!

I commend your work, I just advise that you don't make a big deal about a blow off valve. It's like saying...I got this sweet new air compressor for my garage .....and it has some cool red and white striped air hose!

what are you doing for engine management?

Is an Apexi S-AFCII sufficient enough for the Grand Am to accommodate the tuning required? If so I can probably find some of these for a cheaper price, used, if people need them.

Congratulations. Nice to see more people putting the effort out to get boosted. Yeah, if you're only running 8-9psi a vortech FMU (or any AFPR really) should be plenty to make it run ok. A good fuel computer (Apexi, HKS, etc) will get you some more power with fine tuning on the dyno and a better safety margin.

i figure all the honda guys can do it. And are car is setup hella perfect for it, with the exhaust manifold right under the intake like that, everyone who saw my motor kept telling me it was perfect for it, so i finally decieded to do it. Yeah just planning on running the 6 psi, for now, untill i get some other things, then the ga will be boosting 8 or 9, still need to do some internal stuff too though

Any pics thus far?

Did you do anything about the timing yet? Remember Homegrown blew up at 10 psi at 22 degrees and the stock program is 32.

BTW, get ready for a tranny. You'll need it.

I used the dreaded alcohol kit. What this allows me to do is

1) Cool the incoming air with a spray
2) The effective octane rating is something like 112-118.

That's how I avoided blowing up. There was quite a bit of design in the kit to avoid that too, such as an oversized IC, 2.5" downpipe, placement, etc.

Otherwise I'm getting a tune for the kit from DHP this weekend (hopefully).

What are you using for the exhaust side, headers?

no headers, keeping similar to the exhaust manifold, but route it differently, new piping, mostly custom job.
