My GAGT = P.O.S

Its falling apart. I bought a 2000 GT1 and now its just having problem after problem. I recently got my tranmission fully checked over with new gaskets and fluids and such. Then my starter when south taking my pressure plate with it. Now my power steering hose and sprung a leak along with anti-freeze leaking all over the engine. Anyone have any idea what i should do????
The hose is costing me around 350 (can) to fix and the anti-freeze (same think as coolant) is costing 6 hours of labour and around 600 to fix. This just after i spent 1700 to fix the pressure plate and starter. Im starting to hate my car.....

One of my friends has one, just a ****ty car. (2001 300M)

Pain in the ass to align (tie rod location) and pop the hood and look for the battery. Guess where it is...

He's had a lot of problems with the transmission but other than that, the interior is nice. Don't really like the styling but I guess that's going to be different from person to person.

I'm still waiting to drive a Chyrsler with a decent automatic transmission. I have a feeling I'll be waiting a while... On the other hand, I'd love to own a GM that doesn't rattle when its cold. You can't win, you can just choose what problems your willing to deal with.

Not sure about DC being worse... Ihad an Avenger for almost 60K miles without a single problem ... the only work that was done on it was a single brake change (resurface and new pads).

My GM?

2 Window Regulators
Intake Gasket Leak
Brakes (no comment needed)
Misc Small things (seat latches, trim coming off, etc)

Without warrantee coverage, that's probably pushing $1500 easy. I just hope all the problems are worked out because my warrantee is expired.

I have owned 4 cars (including a beater), and this GrandAm in 37K miles has had more problems than all of them combined (about 115K miles) - even the 16 year old Corolla I owned for about a year and a half.

yeah, i am thinking my GA GT is a pile too. i drive the car easy and keep up on the maintenance. i just had a coolant problem the other day. it turned out to be my waterpump. the tranny isn't shifting like it should on the 1-2 shift either.

i don't think i would be buying a DC car either. i will keep my GT because my dad bought it and not myself. if i was spending my money i would probally not have one. i would have went with a honda or something similar. the style may not be quite as sharp, but the quality is a total different story.

# of GM cars owned by family: 5. The first was stolen (1990 GA, nothing special), the second (1992 GA SE) was traded in on a Neon (more on that later), the third (1993 Beretta GT) was totalled by me, the fourth (kickin 99 GA GT) was totalled by me (my car) and my parents have a 2001 GA GT1.
# of problems: ONE, the fuel pump started to go at around 76,000 miles on my Beretta. Although, recently my parents car fried the foglight relay because SOMEONE forgot to shut the windows the whole way beofre they washed it.

# of Dodges 2. Our 1995 Neon was sold after about a yeare because it was in the shop more than on the road. From bad gauges, bad steering pumps, AC working when it wanted to, and just about every other problem you can think of it had. Our other Dodge was a 1995 Intrepid. The thing at transmissions like I eat hotwings. And no one could seem to figure out why the AC wouldn't work.

Yeah, you go buy something from DC. I'll stick to my "unreliable" GMs.

I'll second ZakkWylde470... I'll be sticking with my GM's as well! I've had two buick century's before I had my GA, my first one, 1990, had 196,000 miles on it when I sold it, still running beautifully. I only had that one the first year I was driving. The second one I bought an '89 that had 105,000 on it when I got it, and I drove it for 2 years back and forth 100 miles a day to school, and every night delivering pizza's for over a year. Cars got 190,000 miles on it now, and its still going strong... I finally gave it to my sister. Both had 90 degreee 3.3's and 3 speed trannys. They were both quick too, low low 16's in the quarter, even with all the miles. So I can't really say GM's have been bad to me, and I will always always swear by that 3 speed tranny. I towed so many different things with my 89 century. Car's, trucks, boats, trailers... and the tranny is still working fine! Now if I could just get the headliner to stay up without tacks...

'96 GA SE with 99K miles, never service
the tranny at all, and the thing has this
really nice 1-2 shift. Everyone thinks we
have a shift kit installed.

The ABS sensors have been unplugged,
since the dealer has been unable to fix
them twice. The power window motors
got replaced (but only one was bad).

Otherwise, that has been the only items
wrong with my wife's '96 GA SE so far...

I've had my 99'' GA for about 6 months. Brakes, some kind of crazy exhaust noise problem, window regulator, fog lamp went out, and now my keyless entry has stopped working and i just bought a new battery about 4 months ago. Yes i agree, P.O.S.

Wow, it's really stange to see people having so many strange problems with their General Motors...GMs have been nothing but extremely reliable for my family and I.
Imports on the other hand...
