04 ES330 or 04 TL?

I need a little bit of help here. My parents are in the market for a new car and its down to either the Lexus ES330 or the new Acura TL. My mom is kind of partial to the Lexus, but the Acura has the performance and other little gadgets that are awsome. Anyone ever taken test drive either one of these yet, any input would help.

Lexus=Toyota quality...Lexus are also one of the most reliable cars on the market...

my mom owns a 2002 Lexus ES300...although i wish she woulda waited for the power increase, i am pretty impressed with the car...with options the car can be really pricey, but so can the TL

i've driven my mom's car, and that sucker is SENSITIVE (the gas pedal and brake i mean)...its a really really comfortable ride, quiet, and the quality of Lexus' service is excellent, the gauge cluster is really bright with blue and white illuminated numbers, and green dash numbers, my biggest gripe...like i said before...is that Lexus vehicles are a little underpowered...but they are fixing that will their newer cars

now the TL...i am in love with!! when school's done, i actuallly plan on purchasing a TSX, which in my mind is a baby TL...the TL has 270HP, but i dont know how important hp/torque numbers are to your parents, inside and out the car is beautiful...really sporty, but luxurious at the same time

I've never driven one, but i sat in one at NAIAS, and it felt good, the seats are really comfortable and i love the blue dash lights, i love that sporty feel you know?

the ES330...is more towards Luxury, taking long trips in that car seem effortless, and the nice wood grain touches are a plus...although, if it were up to me...i would choose the TL, simply because it has more power and it's more sporty...which is what i'd look for...

if you want pure luxury, quality, and dont mind a little less power...go with the ES330

if you want performance, and dont mind smokin' a few benzo's on the street...go with the TL

best advice, go to both dealerships, experience first-hand the service the dealer gives you, and test drive both cars

for people who've actually driven both cars....go to epinions.com

Cracura looks better and is more sporty

Sexus is more luxuriant, smoother ride and probbably more expensive.

I'd suggest they go for whatever fits their tastes, being that they are probbably not performance oriented, they might go for the Lexus.

If it were me, if I HAD to have either I'd go for the TL without question.

IS300 <> ES330.

And what's wrong with the IS. One of my buddies has a 5 spd and minus the subpar gas mileage, it's a pretty sweet car.

ES330 = rebadged camry....(not bad by any means, but over hyped)

TL = badass....I don't usually like sedans, but here I make an execption. looks mean as hell, and probably is just as fast as it looks.

Well were gonna end up visiting both dealers tommorow, and im really excited. The reason why were looking at these two cars are because my parents are really into having a front wheel drive car.

I like the Acura a lot, but just like hotgt said, there is a pimp factor in driving a lexus. ( they will probably let me take it out a couple of times)

Does anyone know (like PontiacGT2K or hotgt) how the ES330 performs? They have it up to 225 hp for 2004, but I want something that is somewhat fun to drive.

I'll keep everyone posted, with some pics eventually if we go through with it.

Mom has the ES300, and honestly I think my Xterra is faster than it. Not only is the tranny slushy as hell (struggles to find gears), but it handles like crap. I honestly hate driving the car, it's no fun whatsoever. There's no pimp factor to the Lexus ES3xx series whatsoever, trust me.

Now.....let me drive my sisters' BMW 328ci..... That car is fun as hell. And it actually has a nice exterior and interior design.

My wife's best friend had a yellow 2001 Xterra, it felt fast, it was nice, but it could not outrun her friends 1993 automatic Toyota Corrola.

ES330 is a VERY nice car. I'd still get the TL if it was me.

well they have a new motor in the 2004 xterrass....but it's still slow. Then again, who cares? I think it's funny how everyone compares 1/4 times....even on SUV's. It's an SUV, it doesn't matter how fast it is. It's for utility, and transportation, not street racing.

And honestly, it would outrun the ES300. That thing is obnoxiously underpowered.

^^i agree, a car that big (ES300) should NOT come with about 200 hp...im glad they boosted it up to 225, but still thats not enough

if your parents really want a rush...go with a 2003-04 Lexus GS430 (DO NOT get the GS300)...although this car is RWD, it hauls serious ass

basically man the difference lies within performance, 270hp vs. 225hp (i dont know the torque numbers, and im too lazy to look ) go with the TL...if you want the car to perform, Acura all the way...if you want straight class, luxury, go with the Lex

and heck yea there's a pimp factor!! when i drive my mom's car i get looks all the time...then again maybe because im 19 years old...
