sony makes such bad products, people should learn their lesson. It doesn't apply to just car audio either, EVERYTHING Sony is trash.

Not sure if it's the brand or just DVD players, but my Sony DVD player in the house loves to skip and jump all over the DVD, even after cleaning.

, he paid for it. it ****ed me off at first, but it was funny at the same time. he was drunk so it didn't really even phase him. but he woke up the next morning complaining of a headache and asked me what happened to the tv. i couldn't help but laugh. after we convinced him that his head kinda went through screen after he charged it like a bull. he went to his bank and gave me $2 grand. (that was right after they first came out. they were 1800 + tax.)

evidently neither of you have experienced a sony xplod headunit. they sucked just as bad as their amps and subs

my head unit is an explod deck. its the best deck ive ever had. and besides sony invented the cd so i would think they would have a pretty good idea on how it works.

Hey my dad had an old, 12+ year old, competion HU and CD changer it it worked like a bull for those years and sounded great. his current sony HU not so much but I don't think it is complete crap.
And before you go on bashing remember that Sony owns a record label or 2, a movie production house or 2, home electronics, home audio, car audio, personal audio, pro audio (pro cd recorders), their own movie audio format (sdds), and were the pioneering company for transistor radios and the japanese electronic manufacturing revolution.

They also helped invent the little thing called the CD (along with philips), SPDIF SonyPhilipsDigitalInterface (it alows the digital transfer of audio like say on Fiber Optic or from your DVD player to your Home theater system) and Sony-Philips/Magnavox are behind SACD (SuperAudioCD or SonyAudioCD) which is a completely different way to look at Digital Audio and has the potential to sound better than any other digital format to date. That's right I said Sound Quality.
Ya see it's like this when I went to get my girlfriend a HU for her car she told me she wanted one with lots of "pretty lights". Yup all my jabbering about the best sound quality and she likes the pretty lights. I got her a Blaupunkt (it was a nice middle ground and it was cheap). So basically what I am trying to say is that Sony knows that average people can't hear quality (they can't even tell the difference between CD and MP3) and average people do more buying than Audiophiles cause we spend $50 on RCA cables where as average people just want to replace their Tape player in the minivan. Sony might build crap but they know how to make money.

even though sony does make some crap head units (which i totally agree with) they also make some exellent head units. once i bought their crap headunit from walmart and was very dissatisfied. then i came into some money and bought the one i have now. the two are like night and day. the sound quality is outstanding. i cant believe how cool of a deck this is. but it did cost a pretty penny (700 dollars) but worth it. sony is very smart, they make decks for the average person with average prices and they make decks for the enthusiast with the higher prices. it all comes down to money, you get what you pay for.

The xplod line is garbage period! The old school sony ES was probably their only good HU. I'll say it again stick to making TVs sony you suck at car audio. Cant for sorry for that guy who spent $300 on a sony paperweight, do more research next time.

Alpine makes decks for the average person too so does kenwood, jvc, pioneer, etc etc. I think people just mostly buy sony based on the name they just expect a good product. My first deck was a sony back then I didnt know jack about car audio but I figured sony was a good name their HUs must be good right?
