Magnacharger On The Dyno

Just curious what kind of numbers (whp) the magnacharger owners put out. And on what pulley?

I got a dyno printout that Magnacharger did back on 8/15/01
and it shows:
max power 200.5 @5750 and max torque of 200.4 @4750
*4-5lbs

are these typical results using the stock pulley?

Aleroboy, Aarongtr, Spaz, Jaketuff, Amraam, Kman, Spoon, Monello, Knappy, ND4SPD, Joshaulupa, and any others that are out there, what's been your results with the setup. Thanks. If you have multiple pulls w/ different pullies or other major mod changes post up what changes you saw.

Maybe we should have a dyno sticky or something in the boost or all-go setion where we can post our dyno results. I've seen them on other car forums and think it would be a good addition to our forum. Moderators, what do you think?

After I first installed mine it dyno'd at 189whp @ 5psi. That was with nothing else but an SLP exhaust and dropin K&N filter. It was august though, so conditions on the dyno were far from optimum. It felt more like 200whp when driving on the road, since it gets more air flow under those conditions. Cooler intake air and more cooling for the radiator.

Current numbers are 235.6whp and 236.6ft/lbs @ 9psi. Even though that was in september, the dyno sheet still shows 89 degree intake air temps.

FYI, with the really cold air temps we had here last month I was even seeing as much as 11psi of boost with the same pulley.

I had 193whp with just a CAI and Borla, and my 18's if that matters to some.

Post Holla back.

With the 2.4" pulley I was at 193 HP on the dyno... correct to 241 HP at the crank. That was without the DHP, any tranny shift help, and probably a slipping 3rd pack in the 45.

Btw... I did some runs on the car with the above setup and Autotap indicated right in that ballpark, 235HP, and same for torque, 234 peak.

With the DHP, my times are better by a few tenths than ever b4, so I'd say my power numbers are up to 260HP or so with the 2.4 inch pulley.

Either that, or if you know you're about to race someone - you could go and buy a large soda from McDonald's and throw it on the front of your car to cool things down.

Is that how Pat beat you twice when going at it on the road one night at GAP?

I had Brendon in my car - he weighed it down a bunch... and I think one of my PIAA headlights was out - so Pat was able to edge me out a bit.

I dyno'd in 2001.
My figures were:

190.3 hp @ 5500 rpm (whp)
203.3 ft/lbs. @ 4000 rpm(wtq)
5 psi boost

With 22% for powertrain losses:
244 hp / 260.6 ft/lbs. torque

Run with K&N drop-in, stock 2.8" SC pulley ,60 mm TB and Borla cat-back exhaust .

The motor that Magnacharger installed the SC on, actually dyno'd at 190 HP on an engine dyno. I called up MC when I received my dyno results, because they were a bit low on hp. My hp figure was lower and my torque figure was higher than their results. The guy was a little suprised that I pulled a bit more torque .

Kman, i don't think that makes sense. I would think that if it was on an engine dyno it would be much higher than those numbers cause it wouldn't have any drivetrain loss, right...? A stock 3400 almost puts out those #s on an engine dyno (crank hp).

The dyno printout that i have from Magnuson Products is for a 2000 Pontiac GA w/257 miles, and was ran on a Mustang Dynamometer. Results were: 200.5hp@5750/ 200.4@4750.....and it says on 4-5 lbs. boost.

aaron at which rpm's did you hit peak hp and tq?
kman are your rpm #'s switched...i thought we'd hit peak hp later than 4k?

Yes, I did switch the numbers. I corrected them. As far as the motor, it was 190 hp(crank) without the SC attached. That is what I was told.

That was with a 2.5" pulley. I get 9psi from it because of my raised rev limiter by DHP. Most would need a 2.4" to get 9psi. I actually see 11psi in the very cold weather we've had this winter. With a 2.4" pulley in the summer I get 11psi, and that's what I'm going to have DHP tune me with (along with the 4.2L injectors). There's actually a pic of my current dyno on my n-body reg. Peak torque was around 4200rpm and stay'd above 200lb/ft until 6000rpm, and peak power was at 5800rpm and didn't fall off until after 6000rpm. Pretty good high end really with the headers. I'm eager to see what happens when I get my heads on.

If the motor magnacharger was using got 190hp on an engine dyno, then it would have been putting out 15hp more than the stock rating, or about 12 more hp at the wheels. If they got 200whp and most others were getting around 190whp that would be about right. Why their engine had more power I don't know. It should have been running with all the accessories on it. Maybe they got a factory freak.

They did have a freak engine. I remember when talking at MC, he was telling me that this engine put out more than the norm. I know my engine was putting out 175 hp or slightly less, before the SC.

So the highest numbers from the e/m supercharger was apoc with 10 psi intercooled, yielded 260 ish whp. Then i also heard from mfuller (i think) that spoon got his into the 260 area as well with an ultra small pulley, and some high octance race fuel w/ some custom GM tuning. And then Aarongtr is putting out like 236 whp and tq w/ 9 psi.
And...if my memory serves me right...last March at the DHP dyno dyno day Monello had a baseline pull of 200 whp and after they did their ecm programming he put out 212 or 217whp on 5 psi.

I just made this thread to get a feel of what kind of numbers are the norm. I'll post mine after i get to the dyno.
