Corner reverse lamps

Somehow there is some water in there. I have no idea how it got in. Does anyone have this problem? My car just ran outta warranty.

The integration of these lights into the back bumper is about as poor an automotive engineering job as I have ever seen. If you live in the north, the wiring harnesses from these lights love to catch the slush and snow from your tires, the next thing you know is that the entire harness has been pulled out of the light fixture. It happened to me a few times this winter. A friend at work has a 2001 and the slush on his literally pulled the wiring from the bulb socket (he has two wires hanging from the rear of his car) I am hoping that mudflaps or something will help this, but I have to wait for the weather to get better!

Same problems, the slush rips the wiring right out of the sockets. Beautiful piece of engineering GM, right up there with the impossible to reach back screw on the blower motor resistor. Anybody thats done that knows EXACTLY what I'm talking about

I wish there were some kind of wheelwall for rear tires. There is absolutely nothing to cover all the dirt and water that is kicked by the rear tires. So all that **** gets splashed right to the lamp housing.

If they do get water inside, they only cost 16 bucks to replace the cornering lamp housing itself. I zip tied the wires to somehing behind there and havent had a problem with them pulling out. I agree though- the duct tape is a major help. Take your tail lite out, look down the inside of the bumper, you will see a hole on the rear of the rear cornering light housing bracket- put tape over that- no more sand and crap can get back there. Simple fix!

Ok I think my sockets need to be replaced. But it looks like there is just one wire that gets split into 2..one for tailight and the other for corner light. Do I have to replace the whole relay?

If you're under warranty the dealership will cover it. I never had them fill up with water, but they started rusting in the bottom, so they replaced them... No problems since.

My car just ran outta warranty. But when I had 3 miles left before it ended, they did the expensive work. Replacing Rack and hoses for power steering.

I went through tons of reverse lamps under warranty, the last one was 1/2 full, finally crawled under myself and put a big glob of silicone around the openings. I'm still under warranty, but no water in there yet.

here is the best pic i have without running and taking a new one, basicly, it starts out at the bottom and goes all the way back up to about the top of my mudflap, and then i just attached a little bit more plastic so it goes all the way down to the bottom of my bumper and i attached it to the flap.

ohh and i believe it was like ....hum....35 bucks or something for both, canadian, or maybe it was 35 cad per one can't remember
