radar and laser jammer????

i have been doing some research on the net for the radar and laser jammers, and all i find are companies bashing other companies products. i figured i would go to my trusted forum here and ask. do these really work? anyone try them? which ones work really well and which ones don't? i was hoping to mate one with a valentine 1. i did a search and found only three threads that dealt with radar detectors/jammers and didn't see much in them. if this has already been covered could someone give me the link. thanks!

steer clear of it. it's good, BUT it has to be in certain conditions for it to work properly. it has to have so much time for it to jam the frequency, so you can't be meeting a cop, he radar you from 200 ft, and the phazar have time to jam it and send it back.

spend the money on a Passport 8500 or Passport Solo S1. the solo and the 8500 are virtually the same thing except the fact that the S1 is wireless and operates on AA batteries. i've got 2 passport 8500s and wouldn't buy any other kind of radar detector.....unless it was the add-on you can buy for the 8500 that increases it's lasar ability. retail on the 8500 is 299 and the solo is 329. and i've done my own tests with the valentine 1 and my 8500. me and a friend went on a road trip and carried both detectors. the valentine responded well, don't get me wrong, but the passport usually responded about a second before....sometimes more. the thing i liked about the valentine was the directional arrows. we got one lasar reading and the valentine didn't even pick it up as where the passport did.

most of the tests you see will have both of these radar detectors running neck and neck with each other, but with my experiences i'd buy the passport and still have some change left over

I think the 8500 can hook up to something like phazer for picking up laser better. Can't remember what it's called though..... it's made by Passport.

I have a 8500 too, saved my ass more times that I want to count.

i'm sorry, it's called the Solo 2. i had it in my mind that it was S1, oh well. my fiance is wanting one of those instead of the 8500 i gave her so i'm about to trade the 8500 for the solo 2. they make something called the ZR3. says it shifts the lasar.......the phazar thing phantom was talking about.

i've been to a lot of sites and even called a lot of places, and all i get is if a company sells the passive jammers then they say that those are the only ones that work and active ones don't, but if they sell active jammers then they say those are the only ones that work and passive don't. has anyone actually gotten one of these or anyone very knowledgable on these to know which ones work if any? i want to mate a jammer with a detector if possible. thanks!

i found a site that sells both active and passive. looks like active covers the car when in close range with the cop, and pasive is for long distance and not short distance. i wonder if you can just buy both and call it a day?

All those radar detectors are so expensive. I'm a cheapskate, I just don't speed.

some of them are kinda high ($1000+), but i paid $299 and some change for mine. and it's rated the best on the market. after that the valentine 1 is $399 i think and about equally as good as the one i got

i need one of those jammers, if they could jam city photo radars that is. That would be excellent.

ok this is something that i know a little more then the average person about, you cannot buy radar jammers. Radar emmisions are governed by the FCC and you have to have a special permit to have it emmiting from your car. so no go on that one. laser on the other hand is governed by the FDA(yeah i know food and drug, strange) but you can buy this and what it does is confuses the laser signial( because the laser is just a beam of light the jammer emits another beam of light which interfears with the readings sent back to the gun) so for a few seconds you will have the chance to slow down, the only down side to this is that if you are the only car on the road and he hits u with laser and nothing happens for awhile the cop will know somethings up and pull u over to see that everything is legit.

now i have a passport and i swear by it, i would never go anyplace while i was driving with out it. NEVER.

and also the other facter you have on your side in this battle is your head, keep your eyes open and watch the sides of the road triffic flow, and for others flashing you. with this you will be A OK

I have a radar/laser jammer from Rocky Mountain Radar. The radar detector portion works well but as far as the jamming part I don't know. Someday I would like to test it with a cop friend of mine but he lives in another state. I read the sites that said the jammer I have doesn't work bla, bla, bla. My brother and I both have them and I have a hunch that it works for a few seconds and that's it. I do know this though it comes with a card that if you get a ticket and the ticket says radar AND your weren't like 20 mph or over then you can send in the ticket and they will pay for it. As far as quality I don't feel like it's high quality. If your going to spend 300 bucks on radar detector get a passport just like everyone said. The quality is much better. I got my radar jammer as a gift so I'm not biased. I think you'll be happier with the escort. I'd say the 8500 series.

radar detectors

yah the 8500 is really good. saved me alot of times but i just ordered the 8500 x50 from radar busters.com. I love that site. anyways it has a pop mode detector and also 50% more range for ka and k band than the 8500. I just bought the 8500 like 5 months ago and they do this now. next fall there will be an upgrade for the 8500 to detect pop mode but i can't wait. Have to have the best. . the reason is becasue in my area they have pop mode becasue one time i was like right on top of a cop with a radar gun and i didn't even detect him at all. Scared the #%$#%$#$# out of me. Usually i detect them from a long ways off. I knew he had pop mode then. Anyways I definitely recomend the new 8500 x50. AWesome Awesome Awesome.. I will still only use where they are legal though. I don't want mine taken away from me from a fluke ticket
