H&R springs and KYB struts installed, problem.

Well it went great as far as install went. I got new rotors and pads at the same time since we where gonna be in there anyway. The ride is GREAT no bouncy or anything like that and the car feels like its on rails! Except one big problem. When i turn the wheel left or right i get a "crunch crunch POP POP" sound. We pulled the front springs and struts out 5 times and still couldnt figure out why the hell it would be making that sound. After the 5th try we said screw it. Its not hurtin anything that we could see its just that damn sound thats driven me nuts. Any ideas? It sounds like @ss and its embarrasing.

he has asserted his dominance over competing males with the loud masculine sound form his exaust system, Females searching for a potential mate will be driven away by weaker exaust systems and attracted to his SLP.

Did you re-use the old strut mounts? Worn strut mounts will cause the sound you are describing...

The strut mounts looked fine. It could be but i doubt it. If so where can i get them? I would have to imagine that the mounts would look worn if they where but they looked fine.

I never EVER want to see KYB struts again. They seriously need to rethink their stupid ass design.

PUT A NORMAL TIP ON THE STRUT!!!!!!!!!!

I hear that for sure. We were not pleased with them either. The ride quality is great though, no bounce.

I hear people say they do that but it only lasts for a short while. I want a permanent fix.

This will fix both the crunch crunch and POP POP?

Well something like 50-60 bucks each..

And Oem or aftermarket will wear in time... The upper struts plates are a wearable part....

that was me.

Its pretty common, and I have heard similar stories, myself included when I installed my H&R's.... the KYB's have nothing to do with it, shoot, I had the same problem and I still have my stock struts.

The problem for some unkown reason, is that the upper strut mount doesnt turn freely on the lower bearing plate (one with the rubber in the middle), and the 2 are grinding against each other as you turn the wheel.

Apply some all purpose grease to the lower bearing plate (I had that picture on my PC but im on my laptop right now.... let me know if you absolutely need it), and that should permanently fix it, at least I have not heard a single "creak" in about a year and a half, or about 15K

I had that clunking noise after I installed my H&Rs. It happened every time I turned the wheel. It eventually went away after the springs finished settling. They just need a bit of time to seat properly. Be patient, it will eventually go away. In the mean time, spray them down with a little lithium grease.

Thats the answer i was hoping for. Do i have to dismantle the fronts to grease them? And where do i get this lithium grease?

I am getting a loud noise from the drivers side rear suspension, i am taking wheel off today to see if anything is broken but the noise sucks. Just started yesterday and i installed my kyb H&R setup like 5k miles ago. It is loud when I hit bumps or turn. It may be the exhaust but the noise was never there before. TIme to go check.
