Civic Si 99'

My friend offered me the body of a 99' civic si for 2k. no engine. no trans. perfect condition. the only reason im considering this is that i could put a b18 or whatever in it and new trans and maybe it'd haul some ass? what do you guys think? should i go for it and maybe by the summer or fall i'll have it done? or just say no to civics? anyone know any good honda civic boards?

Is the body in good shape? Is the interior striped? Mabye its a good idea. Make it your racer. Put just an engine and tranny, no AC no extra stupid stuff. And just race it.

BTW did you sell the s60?

the interior is not stripped by the way. everything is there. i think the kid was gonna attempt to swap the tranny for the six speed rsx transmission and ka20 or whatever engine they have

say no to civics.

That engine swap will get you to where? like a 14.... woohoo. If your in it that much and your going for speed and for racing you got along ways to go to get respectable times. Better start saving mad cash. Civics start out in like the 17's or worse, raise that about 5 seconds or more and you might raise some eyebrows.

Dude if you still have the s60 forget the civic. Mod the crap out of that T5. That has the 2.3L right? Dude with a chip exhaust intake IC upgrade mabye PP exhaust manifold you can be very well over 300hp on that thing. Do those come with a manual?

It seems that people mod out those volvos with chip, intake, exhaust, and stuff and still run high 14's. It is NOT cheap to modify a volvo s60. i was gonna have a 01' t5 we got from copart , everything appeared to be fine then figures it had been in a flood. the car was ****ed. so we got a 2002 s60 2.4t automatic . higher compression engine smaller turbo. bout 200hp stock. i posted pics of it on this site. very nice car, still feels faster than the grand am i had. my dad absolutely loves volvos. i figured i would swap the turbo and have it be much faster than a t5. My brother got me to think twice about modifying the volvo due to that if something breaks....i probably wont have the money to fix it. its automatic, and would probably last me 15 years as a daily driver if i take care of it. and i dont have to make payments on it for 3 years. which in the long run may be a smarter choice. but nothing is set in stone.

the s60 is beautiful (in my eyes)

Do a search and you will find my friend's B18c 99 SI coupe that hit 13.5 with just Intake and exahust. You can build a all motor hatch for about $7,000... which can hit 13's easy. I wouldn't consider that mad cash...

If I was you and want to do a swap, I would look into a CX hatch or a CRX... As far as the engine go... I would go with a JDM B18C

It is going to be very hard to swap in a K20 into a 6th gen civic considering that the K20 sit on the other side of the engine bay vs. the B series engine. It's much easier to swap in a K20 in a 7th gen civic. If you have a 6th gen civic, it would be much better to swap in a B or H series motor. Keep in mind that if you can get the car for $2K, you can find a B16 somewhere and drop that in and turn around and sell it for a lot more than what you paid for.

www.clubsi.com There's a start

I would take something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2467371785

drop this in: http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30010

Now you have a 13 sec. car

I think DD's talking about the group "The B-52s", not the bomber.

As for the Civic. He's offering you a shell for $2,000? How much is a '99 Si with an engine and trans? The b18 swap is popular, but doesn't the 'Lude engine also fit into the Civics? I don't remember.

Yes the H22 does fit but it's a much harder swap to do.. considering that the engine bay on the civic is smaller than the prelude. It's not a drop in like a B series.

You'd have to put a lot of money into suspension and strengthen the chassis because the H22 has quite a bit of power for the normal 96-00 civic chassis. As for 6th gen civics being slow w/swaps, I have a chickfriend with a 96 Civic DX with a B20 with i/e and she runs low 14s, then I have another chick friend with the same model car but she has a turbo B18 and shes running low 13s high 12s.

You can find 99-00 Si's with about 60K miles and perfectly running for around $8-9K.

And yeah, itd be way too hard to swap the new k-series into anything 6th gen and down. There is a 89 hatch with a k20a3 and 5spd tranny, but the guy spent mad cash to do the swap.

In that case this is what you could get:

712 HP.

Actually that was a K20a2 from the Type S... The car is up on ebay right now. He even put the guage from the RSX in the car.

If i do it im thinking b18c. The engine is already out of the car for me. i figure for about the price of buying a stock 99-00 si that runs well i can have one with the b18c and i'd go off of that foundation. maybe some boost. maybe even a huge spoiler thats taller than the car

All I have to say is built B18B block w/ VTEC heads + turbo+tuning will net you anywhere from 400-750 fwhp depending on the tune and build and fuel. And if you add LSD and some tire you'll have a 10-11 second Civic...which is faster than any street GA BTW.....by quite a bit (for the one that said the swap will net 14s).

The advantage of a B18B block w/ VTEC heads?? Well it is much more common and easier to find than the other B18s and if you want good power you're gonna build up the bottom end (sleeves, blueprinted, balanced, decked, different crank, stronger rods, pistons, etc.) anyway, and it allows you the freedom to choose whatever VTEC head you want. Search for "st00pid" online and you'll probably find some wickedly tuned turbo Civics.
