Spring/Summer's coming and im going crazy!

I need help! I cant seem to make a decision. I want some rims badly! I want 5 star chrome rims; i know that much. My two canidates are the ever so popular 077's and the 185's.

For a while up until about now i have been dead set on the 185's. I really like the design and they seem to be fairly light for chrome rims. My only concern is that they only come in 17". Theres not much to say about these. I like them point blank.

Of course, recently ive kinda been checking the 18" chrome 077's out again. Now that eaglewheels has them on sale for $785 thats one killer deal that's almost insane to pass up. My only gripe is them suckers are 30lbs! Ive done quite a bit of performance work and have put that over appearance with my car but now i want something that looks really good that suits my tastes but these rims being 30lbs i know must really shoot the performance out the water. Not only killing 1/4 mile times but even degrading cornering and braking. (anybody with these 077 chrome wheels can you honestly testify these conclusions?) Another thing as far as tires go for this wheel, eaglewheels is selling a tire that goes with these rims for the size of 265/35ZR18. To me thats sound completely wrong.

Anyway, i think ive asked some help on these two rims before but this is my final request on helping me make a decision, considering pros and cons of these wheels, as to which ones to buy.

Thank you for any advice

i'd say forgo the 18's, get the 17's. I'm sure amraam will step in and tell you to get the 18's, but honestly if your that concerned about weight just go with the 185's. You don't see them as much and their really nice and lighter.

However, i'm sure whatever you choose you'll be happy with and yes that tire size is wrong, sounds like a size for a TA or something. I think the size you want is 235/40 18?, correct me if I'm wrong.

18's all the way!!!

Seriously though, 17's aren't much of an upgrade from stock by just looking. I'm getting the chrome 18x8 077's.. I also believe Eagle's site is wrong on the weight.. I'd say they are more like 26 or 27 lbs.

The right size would be 225/40/18 but 235 will work and will probably be what I choose to go with.

18's will actually HELP cornering - Not hurt it.

yeah; i notice a huge difference from changing out wheels and tires. even though my wheels are heavy as, well, something really heavy, they handle somewhere in the high millions better than the stockers.
also, i say go 18s...just cuz i like the look of 18s a lot better than 17s. You can definitely tell the difference. I wouldn't get the Eagle's, but that's just cuz a million people on here have them, but you'd probably be the only one in your area, so that's not too big of a deal.

For the 100th time...let me state this, and lets see if you people will actually adhere to the facts or continue to believe propoganda

--Chrome Eagle 077's DO NOT WEIGHT 30lbs.

--Weight of a wheel is NOT GOING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE in a Grand Am and what you use it for!!! Unless all you do is drag race or AutoX and you're shooting to beat those few people you just can't top!!

--If you are that worried about weight, lose some yourself....or better yet, take a crap before you get in the car for racing, because that right there will deduct 2-3lbs. AND THIS IS NOT EXAGGERATION!

For the love of Christ people, listen for once, it gets tiring when people have to constantly enforce stuff that does not hold true for our vehicles! And in addition, I know it is my opinion, but seeing that I am constantly following the wheel world....the 185's do ABSOLUTELY nothing for our car. Add the 17" tire to that wheel and it looks like you have balloons wrapped around them. Not much of a change from stock and seeing their design I'd bet they are as heavy as the 077 or more, regardless what you read.

I did that during the GAOC meet and my times were exactly the same to the tenth of a second.

Also, with my 18" Chrome 077's, my car handled exactly the same as stock!! Only difference was I had better tires.

Once again... Go 18 or Go Home.

That makes no sense, stop adding to the idiocy of this argument. And the fact YOU DON"T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE may have had an involvement

That handling did not change. Trust me, it changed.

And another thing, for the people who push 17"s and their weight, blah blah blah. Explain to me why racers are starting to upsize from 17 to 18

I noticed a change in handling when the car was dropped. When I took my wheels off for the winter, the handling didn't seem any different.

I guess, if that's what you like.

Personally, I'd rather get Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 or Sumitomo HTRZ II.

But then again, I'm on a tight budget.
