My (Sort of) Eibach Install and my Header install!

Well, I went and tried to do my Eibach install Friday night. Well, Friday night we didn't have a spring compressor and for our lives couldn't get it on without one, so decided Saturday morning to try again. Well got the fronts done, then my friends all had to leave, and I wasn't going to do it myself, so now I have a 1/2 lowered car, the fronts Eibach, the backs stock So next Saturday the backs go on!

This is what we were faced with Saturday morning, note the GAGT 'How-To' sitting there.

The mess waiting for me:

Sorry we didn't take more pics during install... just wanted to get done!

Here is what it looks like 1/2 way lowered.

I need to get some of those then. I just need to find somebody in Wisconsin that will install them for me because I have no mechanical ability at all. I get all of my work done at the gm dealer but I know I can't go their to get lowering springs installed

This should help you decide...

Eibachs:

H&R's:

Sorry to hijack, but good work on the header install. How long did that take you and how come you didn't broadcast it live?

I actually used two, as well. We had one the first night that we were using on one side which would compress the spring to one side and we couldn't get the strut out the top of the strut tower to attach the bolt. So I went and got the second the second day, I couldn't get it on the inside either. And I have no idea how some people did it without the spring compressor.

I actually went with the Eibachs more for the driveability than the looks, although just from the front having no wheel gap = teh hotness. But yeah I was more interested in the ride quality than the looks, from what I'd been reading it was Eibachs for performance, and Intrax for the lowest drop, H & R was like the trade off a little less performance than Eibach but more than H & R, more of a drop than Eibach but less than H & R.

Cool. I need those things. I'm riding high and pretty much stock. Not for long though. Spring/Summer projects will be interesting.

macpherson spring compressors work best

youll need 2 to get the stock spring off, but ONLY one to get the aftermarket back on

heh mine worked the opposite way (idk if they were mcphearson...they were both rented from Autozone, but two different styles), I only needed one to get the stock spring off....two to get the aftermarket on.

Finished the install last night, turned out good. I wish I had gotten an impact fun for the fronts, though. After spending 2 hrs trying to get a bolt off a strut that kept sprinning I went to Sears and bought one...got back and finished the pass rear strut and the driver rear in 25 mins. God I wish I had that impact gun for the front. Then I took said gun back to Sears, haha!
