Why isn't the skyline sold in the US?

Like the title states. Is it because the government (or whoever) doesnt want to see nissan kick our ass with a wonderful car? The car has looks, it has a hella engine (yes the car is slow when stock, but the engine is meant to be built up).

There is soo much potiental. I would just like to know why this car isn't being sold here as a regular.

Also on the subject, why did it take so long before the evo came over???? I wouldn't mind having an evo3

Discuss.

in japan they dont have restrictions on emissions/yadda yadda so when they bring cars here they have to dumb them down... i dont think there is much of a market for skylines in america anyway... the evo is the same thing, either way if someone wants one they can get one....

Emissions isnt that big a deal. Throw on a cat, better muffler, some ecu retuning (if needed) and should be golden I would believe.

Im pretty sure there would be a market for them here. I dont know what car(s) they would compete with though.

they also do not meet the USA's strict safety guidelines.

And stock the car is still pretty damn fast. Equivalent to an Evo or WRX probably.

It is sold in the US already...

The reason the GT-R hasn't made it's way over the "tear apart the competition" is because it already retails at like $90,000 for an R34 over there and Nissan could never pull that price tag off over here for the same car, especially since it weighs like 3,500 lbs, is way slower than the Vette and Viper stock and handles worse than both of those cars. Plus the STi and Evo are much cheaper alternatives to what the R34 does, and they are better in certain ways (lighter, much cheaper, same power output as in Japan). In any case, Nissan is gonna attempt to sell the Next GT-R here badged as an Infinity.

"Technically" it is sold in america. I was thinking more GT-R anyways.

I would buy one in a heartbeat (well if I had cash AHAHAHA).

If you can afford it... just buy a Vette or a Viper. If those aren't fast enough for ya, just buy a damn funny car for crying out loud.

Or you could just have MotoRex import you a Skyline.

There isn't a big enough market for them. Sure, everybody wants one, but very few would buy it (E/M SC Kit anyone?). It wouldn't be worth it for them to do all the necessary mods to make it US spec for the few sales they would make.

Besides, if you had the $90k or whatever to buy one, can you imagine comparing cars in that price range and then deciding the Skyline is the best option? Me neither.

Yeah it won't cost $90,000, but then again it also won't have an RB26DETT and I'm sure several other things that drive the costs high on the current one and make it a cool car to own vs. what's out there now competitively.

While it deserves much respect its time to move on from the RB26

VQ35=new hotness plus its the best engine nissan makes and among one of the best on the market

That new RX is hotness...just in time when I'll be on the market for a new car

Hahaha who the hell would want a viper over a skyline? I want something I can turn A vette would be nice though, but I dont think it has as much potiental as the skyline's engine.

I didnt hear about the RX-7 coming back. That's kinda.....kool. I love the old look, and I think they should just continue with the rx-8.

Naw screw it, bring 'em all back

Well the RB26DETT stock block will most liekly handle more power than the VQ35 w/ a turbo setup. For some reason most v6s don't want to handle the same power as these inline 6s, and I have a feeling the VQ is no exception.
