I bought my GAGT in the fall of 1998. I had just recieved a nice chunk of money and I really wanted something new. So I traded in my Grand Prix and with the cash I had gotten I bought my 99 GAGT1 with cash. It was the first time I bought a New car with cash and it was real Blast.... The problem was the color I wanted Green and there was only mostly RED. So the Dealer found me a Black one and I've been happy ever since... My company sent me to Asia for a few months to work. I parked my New 99 in the Garage and flew to Asia. About 3 weeks into the trip I got a call from my neighbor, someone had broken into my house and also stole my car. Fortuanately they only got about 5 blocks away because they turned the corner to
fast and ran into the curve completely snapping the right front wheel from the car. I came home got it put it in the shop and after painting and repairs near $8k .. It was back again good as new. I had no problems other than regular maint. until I hit 125000 miles. I had to replace the Alternator. We rode smooth again until 140,000 miles where I had to replace the Water Pump. Then at 155,000 I had to replace a Gasket that was letting Oill leak into my Coolant over $800.00 for that one. Now last month my Black wonder car is down again after logging 230,000 miles. The Transmission has to be replaced. The dealer is quoting me $3200.00 for the job and also telling me that I need front wheel bearings and a lower gasket in the engine replaced because it's leaking coolant. The entire cost $4100.00 . Well Buddys I'm just considering replacing the Trans and Engine too. There's nothing wrong with the Body or Electricals yet. But according to the Mech.'s at the Dealer ship they call my GAGT1 the wonder mobile. By the way, when I first got it I raced a brand New Accura RSX one night. I got the car according to the Speedo to reach 138 MPH ... Has anyone else done this? Also I kicked his Butt good Hahahaha Oh how did I log so many miles. I work Grave yard shift and comute 175 miles round trip each day of work. My friends they are almost all Highway miles with an average speed of 80 MPH .... Wish me luck and if anyone knows what new Engines cost let me know ... |

I was on Highway 880 nearing Hayward Calif. I'ts flat and straight as a arrow there. I was already cruising at about 90. The two of us had been blasting up to 120 for about at least 25 miles or so. When the way was opened we both hit it. By the way this is now 2000 not 1999.
His car was brand new and said RSX on the back. I believe they were 160-165 HP then until they came out with the RSX Type S later. The only thing I had modified at that time was the K&N Filter which really only works on the top end and a really noisy exhaust I tried which I removed and put the stocks back on later. But they certainly made a difference. The engine pulled to 125 then ran out of breath.... took a second then down shifted again and went to about 130 or so.... repeated taking the breath again then down shifted and pulled to 137. Then it was at red line. The RSX was two cars behind. And that's the truth..... |
