Cheap, Decently fast, and reliable

Okay, I'm in the market for a new car. I'm looking to spedn $19,000 or under. What would be my options?

I am looking for a manual transmission also, preferably all wheel disc brakes.

Brand new?

What do you want besides a manual and 4 wheel disk brakes... what kind of performance?

Something comparable to the GT's speed.

I am not ruling out used. I'm thinking realistically too. Basically, I want something that's going to get good gas mileage, preferably fully loaded, and reliable. For reliablility reasons, I'd probably get foreign. It sucks cause a fully loaded civic is around $19k. I'd love to have an accord or an acura, but they're too far out of my price range

what about a 98 HOnda Accord Coupe w/ a five speed. They are pretty quick, good on gas and cheap as hell to modify.

why would he want to go from a 99GAGT to a 98 Accord? Accord will have a higher price, but still, the car is 6 years old.

SRT-4 is your answer, I wouldn't even think about another car because that is what suits your desires and you can buy new.

Good call.

Panacea,
SRT4 is fast and all but reliable? I guess it all depends on what you consider "reliable."

Prelude is another very good one.

Previous gen Nissan Altima, the most underrated car in the known universe. Reliable, good mileage, more torque than HP and still has a 4cyl, impressive handling on the SE model. 5-speed is a damn good match for a GAGT.

Don't make the mistake of buying new just to buy new, buy what makes sense to you, and your finances. Sounds like that's what your doing.

Any leftovers from 2003 if you're lucky enough to find any, will be under $20,000.

SRT-4's can be had at sticker or below now. Besides, 19k and 20.5k is what, $30 a month?

no body mentioned a Maxima??

VQ35 engine, you could find a 6-speed and dust every car (well maybe) in any of the cars mentioned

it might be difficult to find a 6-speed Max, but i've heard they are worth the research

you could find an '02 or '03 for $19k, maybe even cheaper (the '02's)

some numbers
250hp 245 ft/lbs
6-speed, or 5-speed auto

that'd be my choice...plus, their aftermarket for the 5.5 gen's is growing...the new Altima's share the same engine's so engine mod's are being developed as we speak

one downside...if you live on the east coast, there is an HID headlight theft scare, you can get this system called "DataDots" or something, and it's a police tracking system for your headlamps

other than a Max...i'd go SRT

$30 a month for what?

I went to the dealer's tonight.

'04 Tiburon VR6 - $19,xxx

'04 SRT-4 $21,6xx

They had some Mazda 3's and Mazda 6's for about $21-24k

Had a '96 Prelude SI for $6,xxx w/129,000 bwhahaha

Uhmm, I'm almost thinking that I should just buy a 01 or 02 of some sort for under $10k just to save money. I don't know if I want to be in debt for another 3-5 years (my car will be paid off this august). So, if I sell my car outright and get let's say $8,000 for it, I can buy somethin for like $6-10 and hopefully be satisfied for a few years and save lots of money. I don't know what to do right now. bah

You really don't like Celica? Last time I checked carmax.com, they had 01 GTS manual with about 36k miles for around $16k. You must also know that Carmax used cars are over priced. My friend had this car and he said with just intake and exhaust, his stock 6-speed car ran 14.5 consistently.

I like the celica's (not a huge fan of the rear end unfortunately), but I didn't see any for sale. I'll have to hit up my toyota dealer and see what they have. Not sure if they have any used or not. How's the reliability on those?
